some people love the pain they feel when they workout but i dread lifting weights and running because of the pain. my doctor says i might have high blood pressure/cholesterol from family history but is there anything i can concentrate on or do to relieve the pain?

I would suggest walking. Ideally, 20 minutes of workout raises your endorphins, and that acts like a painkiller and feel-good drug; but you do not want to damage yourself.

If that walking still hurts, or you want variety, you might try swimming.
