Oddly enough there was an anti-war rally in my city of Manchester this week, presumably to get Phony Tony & Gord's attention while they got pissed in the Bridgewater Hall bar. These halfwits were demanding "Troops out now" etc etc, while not really saying much about what would actually happen if tomorrow the troops WERE all pulled out. Immediately east of Iraq is their cuddly neighbour Iran, roughly 2 1/2 times bigger and with a MUCH better military force. The coalition forces can't be pulled until Iraq has adequately trained forces to defend itself, or the current relatively small number of insurgents moving across the porous border (this is especially true near Fallujah) will become a torrent, and before long a full scale invasion of Iraq by Iran would be a distinct and very real possibility. We all know the invasion was a monumental mistake, and based on a complete fabrication, bu the fact is that we have created this situation and now we have to fix it. Pulling out the troops now would make the situation a hundred times worse.

When the Democratic Party stops being the Party of Lies and showing some compassion and care to the Iraqi People who want Democracy. Democrats want America to FAIL in Iraq because Democrats enjoy FAILURE and not success.

The location is not that important in the long term. The islamic extremeists have been at war with the US for 20 years now. We finally woke up on 9/11 and realized it. When the government of Iraq is stable our forces will withdraw to a certain degree. A better question would be, where will the next flashpoint occur in what is going to be an on going struggle against Islamic Terrorists.

Wars in the Middle East have been on-going for centuries. Bush doesn't understand this fully. The war is just beginning for the USA. Even under the most ideal circumstances and even if Iraq were to stabilize under their own form of government, the war will not be over for the US. Ever.
Forever and ever. Amen.

I agree with the others. Another President must take office before this ends. Bush is arrogant and he is basing his ideas as those that are right. He is ignoring the people of the United States. He wasn't elected in the first place. Gore received more votes than he did. It was the Supreme Court of Florida that gave him his office; a sad thing that they did.

I hope that it ends because the Iraq people surrender. Bush is only doing the best!! Don't you guys realize that the Iraq's are going to come over here and create a million other 9/11s as soon as WE ( the strong country) surrender????? They will take over America, and leave us like Rhode Island, if we are lucky! My husband is there this very second, and he, his family, friends, and especially me are very very very proud. You should be too. I have no fear of him passing away, I know he is protected by God and Jesus. Don't stop the war until the Iraq's are ready. Its there country that's being destroyed.

Technically it is not a war. War was never actually declared, which is a legal requirement before you invade another country. It is a "conflict", which is an American word meaning, "illegal invasion that shouldn't be seen as illegal because we are the good guys".
It will only end after a long period of honesty from the US and UK governments. As it has been total lies so far, that looks a long way off.

When any of the two happens : i. The big apple has completely taken over Iraq's oil-fields, or ii. Iraq runs out of oil forever.
A mere change of president won't help, since it's big-apple's old policy.
