Bubba is my Three-Year old Boxer. He has reasonable intelligence. Which means he understands key words like Snack; outside; play; and FOOD!!

But I've also noticed how, on certain days, for no apparent reason. He seems to need (want) more attetion than on other days.
Maybe he is more like, me. Than I'm suppose to admit.
He just takes certain times, that he expects. And even demands my full attention.

QUESTION:
Why do Pets, need more attention on some days.
But feel it's not so neccessary on others?

Hi Buzz! This is my 10,000 point question!!!
Pleased to meet Bubba!!
It 's a personality trait. We are similar to our four legged pals.
Somedays we can be in the mood for hands on, the next day we like to be left to our own devices. We will just love them for who they are and leave them to their own idiosyncrasies!
Let him have his space on those days he's feeling stand-offish. Give him lots of cuddling on the days he feels affectionate and enjoy him no matter what. Only too soon , all that will remain is the memories!

I give my dog her daily once over when I get home from work every day. I scratch all the itchy spots, check her for ticks and make over her for about 10 minutes. She usually assumes her "normal" position...lying on her side so I can be sure and rub her belly, but the other day she put her head in my lap and just froze until I was done scratching. I'd had an unusually busy day at work and was really glad to just sit for a while. I think she knew (sensed) that and made sure I took a break. Animals love the attention we show them, but sometimes I think they know when our day hasn't gone just right and return the favor. Maybe the days when Bubba is more demanding of your attention are the days when he senses that you need him to be there for you!

Hi Bubba!

Our pets understand more than you know. If you are having a bad or stressful day...they usually can pick up on that and tend to want to spend time with you.

And of course....if you're doing something....they have to be involved. Just look at your pup when you're trying to fix something around the house...then put this phrase in a bubble above his head (like a cartoon)...'Whatcha doing? Can I help?'

They tend to dig in for affection when you need them...even though you don't know you need them.

Now imagine what Bubba does to you...I have a 140 lb. Black Lab and a 150 lb Newfoundland...and they do those things to me AT THE SAME TIME. 300 lbs. of fur and tongues!

It is my pleasure to meet Bubba. Pets are a lot like women Buzz. Some days we need to be petted and spoiled and reassured. Other days we want to be left alone. He sounds like my kind of dog. :)

Why do YOU feel more need of attention one some days and less on others???

They just do. If life's been rough, we all want more attention. It makes us feel better about ourselves and our lives. Same with our dogs. If the dog's depressed, it'll want more attention. Dogs can get depressed. Mine do any time daddy goes off to work.

Dogs have their ups and downs days. So maybe he is feeling to good and he wants to share how happy he is with you. Enjoy your dog when he is like that towards you. Your dog is just like a person sometimes you want more attention than other days.

Pets can have bad days too.
They just want more attention on some days ten others is because they either just want to get away with it, or they are just having a bad day
