I'm jewish, I'm happy being jewish, I live in America which is a country with freedom of religion, yet people still try and convert me to christianity. I'm sick of it. Whatever happened to live and let live?

Unfortunately, it seems to be a crusade for Christians to try to take away your constitutional right to worship as you chose. I guess it goes along with the belief that a lot of them have of "if you are not with us, you are against us". Personally, I would prefer to see quiet acceptance of the beliefs of others instead of blindly stomping upon the toes of others.

Because Jesus gave the great commission for everyone who believes in him to out out into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. The new testament writer Paul first was concerned with converting the Jews but got so frustrated he declared himself the Apostle to the Gentiles.

If you read Paul's writings he talks about Jesus and his teachings are for the Jew and the gentile.

As a former Christian who has listened to many radio preachers obsessed with ministering to the Jews, I can tell you that most Christians believe you all to be special but special people who need Jesus in their life and they also consider it a challenge to convert a Jew because that in their mind would make them a great personal Evangelist if they could win you or any Jew over.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I hope it does.

They fear for you - its true the Christians that are doing that fear for your mortal soul, its all very altruistic and caring and very very annoying. Be thankful they are actually the minority (I know it doesn't seem like it) but there are hosts of Christians out there who will only talk to you about their God if you approach them - for the others try thank you very much but I am sorry you should probably try someone else as I am not soil for your seed - its biblical if they don't get it just refuse to talk to them.
Try to sympathize its so much better for the psyche not to mention the blood pressure than getting annoyed or irate (i used to be a wait till you come to me type till the shouters got to me and I decided the whole thing made no sense)

I think its kind of pointless to try to convert Jews into Christianity we beleive in the same supreme being right?

The main difference being are beleif in the Messiah.

We beleive the Messiah is Jesus.

You beleive the Messiah is still yet to show up to save his people. We beleive this also except that we call this the return of Jesus.

You mean "Why do people try to convert me?".

"Try and..." is not grammatically correct.

The answer to your question is that in order to persist, religions have to retain current adherents and attract new ones. They use a variety of strategies for that, from pursuing desperate people (drug users, the poor, the ill) to demonizing non-adherents to indoctrinating children and encouraging adherents to have as many children as possible.

A religion that did not compete for adherents would die out under the pressure of the religions that do. Every time someone attempts to convert you, that person is demonstrating the power of evolution.

Probably you look like a "convertible." Btw, you can still live and let live even if someone wants to convert you. So what?
Every person has their own ways and means, and so try hanging out with other Jews, you never know that might work.
But maybe they will be Zionists and try to convert you to be a Zionist. Then what?

I went out with a girl once that tried to convert me.
She tried to turn me into a motel? And it worked.

You can take it as a complement. I also deal with a lot of people trying to convert me, but I get everything I need from my current religion. It use to bug me, but I have released that people are just trying to share something that they feel passionate about. Next time use it as an opportunity to teach them about your beliefs in Judaism.

Because so many of them will not be satisfied until everyone bows down to their primitive beliefs. Most are afraid, very afraid, of anyone that chooses freedom of thought.

I won't try. If you didn't know about Christianity, I would offer it to you. I believe it is the correct way, which I'm sure the others would say too. But you have to make up your mind yourself.

I feel for you. I know how it is to be surrounded by people who claim to have all the knowledge of the Bible, yet can't spell "Jerusalem".
