I dont particularly think its a myth, I dont know any girl that doesnt go for a guy with a bad streak in him!

because they're exciting and most girls (or at least me) get bored easily so it's nice to have a "bad boy" that can keep things interesting and never dull!

Because they dont know any better. If the choice is between a thug/bad boy and a nice guy why would anyone not choose the nice guy? I can understand not wanting a guy that was clingy or a lapdog just like I wouldnt want a woman with those traits but most bad boys live poorly and are abusive so what is in it for the girl other than her trying to fix him. No offense but women deserve what they get when they choose this kind of man. Un fortunately children often enter the picture and they have to pay for her stupidity too.
Also, a nice guy isnt a wimp. People need to stop mixing the two. I am nice, treat women right, open doors etc, but will throw her down and take care of business at the drop of a dime and will put the knuckles to someone if the need truly arises- I just dont go looking for and causing fights nor do I hell an dscream like a spaz if something doesnt go my way and oh a great thing- I have a professional job.

Women are attracted to men that are aggressive, strong and competitive. It's nature. You see it more in animals when they compete for mates, the fights and competition. The female always accept the winner.
Women control the way men act, think, dress, cars driven and finances. Men will "show off" to get a female attention; hence, "the bad guy".
Women controls all aspects of men activities. Men wouldn't do half the things that we do if there wasn't women cheering us on.

I would go with the Big C's answer on this. They say that they want a nice guy, which is never the case, but they want someone who acts strong and could handle themselves. I am going to post the theory that it is instictive (think back to stone age) where there were a lot of big animals that could kill someone, we just still have some of those instincts.

this is not a myth. I have watched it happen again and again and again. It is not just women either...lots of guys go for bad women too.
Guess it has to do with everyone liking the thrill of the dark side

A part of it is the beauty and the beast myth. If their love is so powerful it can overcome the beastial nature of the bad boy it makes them the "princess"

Simple, the boys bad have a strong footprint and he does not have fear of if to risk for a moment with that woman understood, it forgives the errors more I am Brazilian and English it is not my fort

Its the thrill and excitement you get. They tend to be more adventurous and exciting but have a nasty personality. In the end you realise that the nice, gentle guys are the way to go. They actually care.

Because it's a challenge and they think they can make them change and become good boys who just look like bad boys to other people.
It seldom works though in practice, leopards and spots... the boys'll only change if they want to themselves.

just like anything else in life we like all the things that are not good for us, food being the perfect example.it's like a form of being rebellious. when society says don't we do.
i love a ruff neck who will stand strong and don't back down. i guess because bad boys seem to have no fear. they take chances and enjoy life.

It's usually just the younger ones. Then we grow up and realize someone whos in jail all the time can't pay the bills!!
