One of the Twelve Apostles, mentioned sixth in the three Gospel lists (Matthew 10:3; Mark 3:18; Luke 6:14), and seventh in the list of Acts (1:13).

The name (Bartholomaios) means "son of Talmai" (or Tholmai) which was an ancient Hebrew name, borne, e.g. by the King of Gessur whose daughter was a wife of David (2 Samuel 3:3). It shows, at least, that Bartholomew was of Hebrew descent; it may have been his genuine proper name or simply added to distinguish him as the son of Talmai. Outside the instances referred to, no other mention of the name occurs in the New Testament.

There are Catholic books on the Lives of the Saints that should have some info on St. Bartholomew and everything we know about him.

Also as another answerer mentioned, you can do an online search for info about him.

Less is known about Bartholomew than many of the other Apostles, probably because he was apparently a somewhat quiet man, who mostly let his actions and faith speak for him.

I know Leonardo DaVinci painted his face as a self portrait when painting St Bartholomew in the Sistine Chapel ceiling. St. Batholomew was skinned alive. Leonardo felt he was persecuted & by the time he was nearly done with the ceiling of the chapel he had to have made so many revisions he felt that he was percecuted by the church as well.
