I just want to thank anyone with concern. my cat, amazingly, has made a 100% recovery from a vicious attack by my next door neighbors dog.He would not let me get anywhere near him after I brought him home immediatly after the attack.(before I was able to let him down from carrying him inside my house he was so freaked out he opened his mouth, turned his head 180 degrees and latched on to my forehead, literally. It was like a scene out of a horror movie. My girlfriend witnessed the whole scene and it totaly freaked her out. I did not in the least hold him accountable). He then hobbled under my bed where I could not get to him without hurting him or me even further. I ,to my surprise, could not locate any emergency mobile vet anywhere in the S.F.V. (So. Cal). I then monitered him frequently until I saw him finally drink, eat, and use his cat box succesfully. The dog had him by the neck when the neighbor beat hs dog with a broom stick until he let go.The dog was not lnjured,I also healed. WOW

Wow, a viscious attack and no internal injuries? That's astounding. I'd have him checked over internally just to make sure. Poor thing.

I had a similar experience. My cat was picked up and carried off by a coyote when I lived in Ramona, CA (the boondocks). A neighbor saw it happen and by some miracle was able to get the coyote to release poor Max. Unfortunately, Max had been cornered before he was picked up so he tried to climb up a stucco wall and scraped all his nails off. The coyote also punctured the skin around his neck and body. The experience was incredibly traumatizing, so I can completely understand how you feel.
Your kitty may be skitish now, because of what happened. If a dog barks on the tv he may run away, or if there's a loud noice, etc.
My cat, to this day (this happened 6 years ago) is terrified of the ceiling fan, and large shadows.

Still, I'm happy to hear everything worked out for you. Cat's are amazing animals-good luck in the future.

You should count yourself lucky. I had an indoor cat who decided he wanted to run around the neighborhood one day. I took off after him but couldn't catch him. I got a friend to help me look for him around the block and we found him at a neighbors house.

The neighbor had a huge mean german shepard. We were walking past and saw a bunch of kids jumping on the trampoline and the german shepard trotting around with my cat in his mouth like a chew toy. He had broken his neck.

It was pretty sad...and I shot the dog in the face with my paintball gun more than once......lucky for me the damn dog was euthanized when it got loose while the owners were on vacation and didn't claim it.

So yeah, you're really lucky you're kitty is OK

Great! I know exactly how you must have felt. Luckily, cats have nine lives, they are great survivors and great healers. Many of the cats I have had scared me when I thought they would die, but they recovered. One of them was bitten by a huge horse! He still has scars and areas with no hair on his ribs, but he's fine!

That is such a sweet ending to a terrible episode. I love cats myself. I am glad for you and your kitty.
