YES, DEFINITELY TAKE HIM TO THE VET.

It's possible that he could have lower urinary tract disease. This is most often in the forms of urinary obstruction, which is an acute obstruction of the urinary tract that tends to affect male cats, and feline idiopathic cystitis. Urinary obstructions can be caused by stones or a plug of inflammatory debris and crystals, which is part of feline idiopathic cystitis (inflammation affecting the lower urinary tract). The cause(s) of feline idiopathic cystitis is unknown- But factors may include, but are not limited to: dry food diets with a high mineral content, genetic factors, and strict confinement.

Please DON'T hesitate. Take him to the vet A.S.A.P!

I would recommend changing her diet. Talk to your vet about Purina U/R prescription diet for cats. It acidifies the urine, which will help her eliminate the excess mucous or urine sand that is probably what is causing the problem. I would also recommend having abdominal x-rays taken, to make sure there are no stones that need to be removed or dissolved (sometimes Hill's S/R diet will resolve the stones over time, but sometimes surgery is required). Purina U/R will not only acidify the urine, but it has a little more salt, which encourages more water consumption and more frequent urination, which can help prevent 'stagnation' of the urine in her bladder, which also helps in the fight against mucous, stones, and sand. Hill's C/D is a similar diet, but it has more carbohydrates, which usually causes weight gain in cats. Purina U/R is higher in protein instead, which is better for most indoor cats.

NOW!!!!!!!!!!
This happened to one of my cats. He walked around the house meowing and trying to use the litterbox. It was right after we had come back from a vacation so he had been unsupervised (with food and water) for several days. We brought him immediately to the vet. He had bladder crystals that has clogged his urethra and he was basically being poisioned because he couldn't relieve himself. We were told we were very lucky- he only had about 5 more hours to live. Everything turned out fine and he lived a happy, healthy 12 years after that incident. But get him to the vet ASAP!

Also, the vet had told us that cat food (wet food, especially) with high ash content is often responsible for forming bladder infections. You will probably have to be a little more cautious about what is in his food from now on.

Goos luck, hope he is okay!

This is an urgent trip to the vet. Really urgent! He has crystals that block his urethra (feline lower urinary tract disease). If you are late (every hour counts!) his kidneys will be destroyed and he will die. He is in horrible pain right now. The vet will put a catheter on him and he will give him a special diet (feline s/d of Hills or Urinary of other companies) and antibiotics, probably. Hurry up, don't wait for more answers, go to the vet NOW!!!!! If you hurry up he will be saved easily.
After he gets the catheter off, make sure you give him the special foods I mentioned, canned food, not dry, and add some extra water in them.

Sounds like a bladder infection and what kind of food are you giving him? Don't give your cat the wet food there are too many recalls on it!
Friskies "dry" food is also known for causing bladder infections.
I'd take him to the vet, bladder infections can get really serious (watch for blood) plus you don't want your cat to go pee in those places later on so make sure you get that smell out.

Go right away - especially in males it could be FUS (feline urological syndrome) and that is where the urethra gets blocked by crystals and will stop him from being able to urninate. If the urine can't be released he is in big trouble.
I have had 2 males with this and it needs treatment right away.
Good luck to you and the kitty.

Absolutely another trip to the vet is called for. He could have a urinary tract infection.

Yes ASAP it could be an infection. Antibiotics might clear it up but he sounds like he's in pain. I know it's expensive but you'd feel rotten if it turned out to be serious

Get to your vet for a checkup, it should not be such a problem for him, and infections are nasty things.

His problem can become FATAL in just a few days or LESS.

He has urinary blockage-- which in a male cat is HORRENDOUS.

Take him to the vet AT ONCE please!!
