I'm looking for size, ie 6x9's, 5x7's?, also 4-way, 3-way, etc.... I have a '76 GMC K-1500, and I plan on putting a dual 10" subwoofer enclosure (nothing too fancy) behind the seat. I was just wondering what door speakers, in anyone's humble opinions, do you think would sound best with the subs in the back. Current plan is to run the door speakers off the stereo, but I can get a small amp for them if that'll sound a little better. Anyhow, thanks!!!

6 1/2" speakers will give you the largest number of options to choose from, and should be large enough to blend well with the subwoofers in terms of sound quality. Since you're going to have to do some custom work to mount them in the door anyway, I'd look for component speakers. Components are typically 2-way designs that use a separate tweeter and crossover module (instead of having everything built into the same speaker frame). The best speakers available are generally component designs, and most of them are 6 1/2" speakers.

Using a separate amplifier instead of the head unit to run your front speakers will pay off in overall sound quality. If you choose 8-ohm subwoofers (or use a single 4-ohm instead of dual subs) you can pick a 4-channel amp to do everything. Two channels can be used to run the door speakers and the other two channels can be bridged for the sub(s).

I wouldn't run two subs in a truck. Won't sound good at all. Check out Alpine, Kicker, or memphis speakers.
