I know how you feel. There was a time when I had totally given up until one day someone made fun of me about my beliefs. I got my bible out that night and re read the entire thing! Except Job that is, I couldn't understand it past the first chapter. After that I began to notice things differently about the Bible. Each word, each comma, each pause, are not just accidentaly put, but with a purpose. I would suggest you open your bible tonight, over a nice glass of wine with low lights, and read Daniel. It is the most interesting book because it is relevant to our times, and also it is interesting to find out the prophecies in Daniel have been proven by archaeology as well! But I would suggest you get help from a web site when you read, for the symbols are tough. Like the Great Tree that is cut down, I found out later that it was God's Kingdom. Cool huh? And don't forget to communicate with God always. That feeling of abandonment comes from Satan, not God. Which father would hand his son a stone, when he asks for bread?

Just do it, and the motivation will come. You say that you feel abandoned by God, but if make an effort to get closer to Him by reading the Bible and praying, things will change. You have moved away from Him, so you feel this way.
I know after a week or two of not going to church, I don't want to go anymore and don't feel motivated, but when I DO go, I feel close to God again. It's the same with reading your Bible.
Just read a few verses a day. You'll get to where you want more.
I will be praying for you, and I wish you all the best.

You are motivated already by asking this question. Remember that everyone goes through a dry spell, and don't be so hard on yourself. He is still in control! Maybe a daily Christan devotional book would help. Most have a scripture and a practical application for your daily walk. Do not be discouraged by the naysayers here. Some Christian worship music may lift you up and help you come to a place that you hunger for His word. God bless you!

You got me, I've never been that motivated.
But seriously, here's my theory: There is a program or book or video or something...the Bible in 365 days. It guides you through the entire Bible in a year. This might help because you are only looking at it day by day, rather than the entire book. Also, if you read a section then see how it fits into your life that day, it can help you reflect and maybe be more excited to read the next day,

I think you should start with you depression. That in itself will hold you back. I have felt the same way you do. I have since learned that when we think that God has abandon us, he is still there waiting for us to ask for his guidance. Depression is normal, don't think it's not. But don't limit yourself to just a small part of the Bible. Read as much as you can of all books. It will help you work out the Depression. Pray a lot to God also. You will find the motivation to do the reading and get rid of the depression.
I'll keep you in my prayers!!!

Listening to the critics once more, are we? The Mormon Bible is the King James Version. I have learn each a Catholic Bible and a Mormon Bible, they learn precisely the identical. Yes, there are footnotes, however like several guide with footnotes, it's not essential to learn them. And the Book of Mormon used to be published by way of a non-Mormon. He made plenty of alterations within the transcript. After printing the guide, Joseph Smith learn by way of it and proper the mistakes he located. Mostly grammatical and punctuation. There had been a couple of alterations to textual content made, however the Gospel used to be in no way modified. Then there used to be the advent of chapters and verses to make it simpler to learn. And, of path, there might be a few similarity among the Bible and the Book of Mormon. The folks had documents of the previous prophets, and so they love them. There are one of the Isaiah verses which will handiest be located within the Dead Sea Scrolls, which have been found out one hundred yrs after Joseph's dying. Found in not one of the Bibles of his time, in which would he have located them? Other verses located in a Bible, however now not within the Bible Joseph used. Such because the 'or out of the waters of baptism'. Remember a non-Mormon printer published the 1830 version, and he left plenty out. And Mormons don't consider Mary used to be a god, and we do not need any expertise whether or not or now not she is a spouse of God. She used to be readily a human girl who used to be pregnant for nine mo and bore a son.The relaxation appears like you've invested the Church by way of studying Ed Decker. He used to be excommunicated from the Church of adultery, which he admitted to. He swore a vengeance at the Church considering that it had the audacity to excommunicate him. He takes matters and both twists them into anything we do not consider or outright lies approximately it. Similar to the Tanners and others who rip the Church aside.

You are now dried. You cannot read the bible when there is a vacume. Who wants to read the bible when there is so much good books in the market, if ever you like reading. Don't do it by yourself. You will only run in circle. Relationship with God is a partnership. What you need now is the comforter.

Don't percieve your lack of motivation to read the bible as a bad thing. It could be your mind just craves something else. I would highly recommend 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins. It will challenge your beliefs but I think after reading it you would probably either question your beliefs or, if you dismiss his arguements, be more motivated to readyour bible.
'I believe in God cuz i want to and I would much rather believe in a God then nothing'--- he addresses exactly this in his book! My own opinion- I'd like to belive in a god ad that there is more than 'nothing', I'd like to believe that everything will always be ok because some great divine power will watch over me- but that doesn't make it true. Faith is believing in something with no proof of its existence. There is much more to life. If you can adjust to facing the realities of life instead of the hanging on to the comfort blanket of religion you'll probably start to appreciate certain things more- like nature for example- it is far more interesting to learn about the world than just put everything down to some big know-all be-all power.

The bible is not the best answer. It will only open more doubts for a man with less understanding of the bible.
You are not abondoned by God.
Ask it in a prayer.
How about asking someone to pray for you. If you want, a priest is willing to offer his service to you. You can also talk to a priest.
God bless you.
