I have no problem with people looking to god for guidance and participating in religion. I myself am agnostic. Their are psychological reasons that even if the god you believe in doesn't exist (I'm not saying he doesn't, I'm not saying he does), your belief can benefit you in life. My problem comes in when people blindly, without question believe in a text that is 2000+ years old and don't believe in things modern science can actually prove. At least really study a subject, from both sides, before you make claims on it. Evolution is one of the biggest debates I see on here and based on questions and answers many people claim things they really know nothing about. If you do decide to study and see good points and real science make it fit into your religion. Evolution does not necessarily mean there is no god or that he didn't create the world. If god exists he is obviously very creative, he could of planned evolution to create the humans in his image. The creation of the universe in six days does not need to mean 6 of our days on earth. If we were on a larger planet a day would be longer, on a smaller planet shorter. We cannot claim to know what a day is to god. Light and dark weren't created on the first day according to genesis, so there isn't a concept of a day created right away. I just ask all people to open their minds and think for themselves. If you want to question things learn about them first so you can know how to make real points. And to almost everyone on here, learning from the internet is not ideal, anyone can make a page saying whatever they want. Start reading books people, all different kinds of books.

Please don't take this as an attack or ridicule, it is not the intent.
How do you know what God "intends" you to be?
I'm just trying to figure out how anyone knows God's "intent".
I won't (not can't) accept "the Bible" as a valid reference, as the source is 'questionable' (for lack of a better word). Unless God has spoken with you face-to-face, or you have an unknown text written in, and by, the hand of God, belief in a book written and edited by men is an act of faith, not hard fact.
Now, if you choose to believe the Bible is the word of God, that's fine. If you choose to believe God's intent for what you are to be is written in there, that's cool, too. but, if that is what you believe, why put the book away?

"Being nicer" isn't what it's about. We don't go to heaven by our own actions or works, but by the grace of God, which is a free, totally unearned gift from Him. How do we get this gift? By confessing that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and that He died on the Cross for our sins.
If you pick your Bible back up and actually start reading it, you will find that it says that Christians will be ridiculed and mocked for their beliefs. The road to destruction and perdition is a wide and well travelled one - The road to eternal life and salvation is a narrow one that will be chosen by few (again from the Bible).
You need to stop worrying about what other people think of you - they are not what matters. The only one who really matters in the end is God.
Yes - how we treat our fellow man does matter, but only within the context of obeying God's commandments to love God and our fellow man, so even that brings us back again to God.
Remember - God is so pure, so clean, so good, that all of our earthly trying to be holy alone means little to Him:
Isaiah 64:6 -
"All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
In other words, we cannot do it on our own - we need God.

Why don't you become a better person for your own sake, not for that of an imaginary friend? Work out the person you intend to be, and work towards that. Your god doesn't exist, so there is as much point in doing things because of his intentions as there is for the Easter Bunny.

y care what others think about ur believes. All that matters is how u feel inside and maybe u need to listen to ur self not others. If we all did that in this world OMG then we would be every ones toy. If ur not so nice work on the things that bug u the most, and little steps on that path not jumps. k :)

Don't put your Bible away. It talks about the God of love. This is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 - "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

I didn't get nicer to people until I realized what Christ did for me. Everyone has the rite to their own views, and their own growth in Christ. I am far from perfect, 80% of the nasty people here on Y.A. are just trying to yank your chain.

If you are a Christian, then expect people to ridicule you. Jesus said it would happen, and said to rejoice when it did. It means you belong to Him. What more could you want? Don't let some of these people get you down. Peace.

Dear truth seeker,
The bible contains many valuable lessons and truths, but as you have found it also contains other than that. Maybe you should read the Qur'an and see what your heart tells you. Take a look at this site

May God Almighty bless you in your quest to become a better person!
