It is obvious isn't it?
It's very wrong, firstly because water baptism doesn't wash away any of your sins,
Water baptism is a public declaration that you have repented of your sins, you trust Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins, and you live and love God with all your heart
The fact that you are doing this for fear of hell is wrong. It should be for your love for God
Personally I think you are going to the wrong "church" and they are more interested in numbers than your soul. You are still going to hell even after the water baptism if you don't repent of your sins, and live for God from then on
It's the truth and it will cost you an eternity if you listen to the wrong teacher
The Bible says only you know if you are born again because the Spirit of God testifies with your spirit that you are a child of God. At this moment you are in doubt and that isn't a sign of the Spirit of God living in your life

Most everyone above answered correctly. Sonfia81 had the most accurate answer. Baptism won't save you. It just shows the world that you belong to Christ now.
If by "I got saved" you mean you asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior then won't go to hell. You're safe (saved). You now belong to Christ and if you die before getting baptized, you still belong to Christ and will go to heaven.
UPDATE: I'm reading a lot of answers since posting this. All of these answers can be confusing and scary. Please, whatever you do, please read the Holy Bible, starting in the New Testament. People are people and can be wrong. The Holy Bible will be your guide to all truth. Start in the New Testament. Also, go here: http://www.christiananswers.net

You have been taught the wrong things,
Hell is NOT a permanent place of torment. It is simply man;s grave and will be no more when death is eliminated. Revelation 21;4.
Just getting baptised is not enough. You are not permanently saved but must continue to seek God's approval. Your actions do not guarantee it.
Baptism is an agreement by you with God to obey His commandments. For it to be genuine requires you to learn what God requires. This belies infant baptism because an infant cannot make a personal decision.

The question is, do you really believe there is a God? Do you believe that Jesus Christ his son died on that cross to save us from our sins? Most importantly do you believe in the Holy Spirit that guides us in our lives? If you believe then it is OK to get baptized. Baptism is a symbol of your new faith in God. It shows others that you believe and have excepted him as your personal lord and savior. The one unforgivable sin is unbelief. In the bible Jesus says, "if you deny me before men I will deny you before my father in heaven".

dont get saved to just not go to hell. Do it beacuse you want to love christ and be with him forever in heaven beacuse he made you too and wants to bless you here on earth and in heaven.
It starts now. chosing to live for him in everything.
Though hard, stayin in touch with God, (talk to him like anyone else but done expect audible awnsers, listen quietly and read your word and stay around people who will grow you. Congrats on getting saved.
Getting baptized just shows everyone. Hay. im _____ _____ and im a christian.to everyone who sees it.
God Bless. :)

If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and you want to accept that offer and live your life in a way that honours him, go for it. Being baptised doesn't mean that you're the finished article. It just means you're saying to the world that you're ready to start following God. If you're not ready to make that declaration, don't feel bad about waiting until you're more sure.

Dear Brianna,
I am so sorry that you are scared, but there is really nothing to be afraid of. Hell in the fire and brimstone eternal punishment sense does not exist, it is not a Bible based teaching.

it is ok for you to get baptised. part of being christian is that you will not go to hell. however you need to live for god and try to live out his word as much as possible, including getting baptised. however do not assume that as you are baptised you will immediately go to heaven, you need to live for god also. you are at the beginning of your journey with god and the more time you spend with him the easier it becomes to live for him, do not worry about getting baptised. enjoy it and good luck on your journey with god

You should serve God not out of fear, but rather out of unconditional love. Water baptism can't save you. It is merely an outward profession of your faith. So the question is, "are you truly repentant?"
