Relax. The PH is not enough to panic about. If there were no other strange indications, such as glucose, blood, nitrite, etc. on the stick, this is not a too high PH. However, high PH may cause crystals and can create kidney stones and bladder stones, which is not good to have. definitely she must look into it. She must go to a doctor and have a sonogram and have a complete urine analysis at a lab, where they can check on the microscope and they can perform a culture for bacteria. and check for blood, salts, crystals, and so on. Also, the doctors will tell her if she needs some medication or change of diet to adjust her PH.
By the way, 5 is too low for PH too, it could create stones at the opposite end. 6-7 is OK.

It means nothing, the longer you let the urine sit on the stick the longer it has to react. All the little different pads on the stick for urinalysis pretty much have different times at which you are to read them.

Also, the longer your urine is out of your body and sits around in a specimen jar the higher the pH will be.

It really isn't a big deal.

Your urine has a normal alkaline/acid ph. When it is not normal then you will see those different colors on the stick. Your urine is too alkaline. Drink more water.

it means the urine is alkaline, the normal urine ph is 4 to 7. see a doctor it might mean something else like alkaline stones, and with alkaline urine, it's easy to get a UTI. just see a doctor. or try the acid ash diet like eating cranberries, prunes, and lots of water

It means nothing. Ph of urine and color, depends of kind of food and drink you take!

A pH that high indicates you have too much ammonia in your system. An ideal pH is around 6.4 to 7.0. You want your pH to be higher rather than lower, but too high like yours is not good and needs to be lowered. Most people eating American diets have a low pH and that is inviting disease. You raise your pH by eating the right kind of calcium. Avoid inorganic calcium that is from non living sources like calcium carbonate that is from rocks. Meat and alcohol will tend to lower your pH.

You want your pH to be in the 6.4 to 7.0 range because up to 10 To 20 times more oxygen is the result. In an alkaline environment, you have abundant oxygen. As the pH of the urine drops, less and less oxygen is available to the tissues. Small changes of 1/10 to 2/10 in pH can mean 10 to 20 times more oxygen availability. Ionized calcium is the key mineral to help keep the pH near ideal.

Avoid the calcium that is in some orange juices like the Tropicana brand orange juice that contains calcium hydroxide. The manufacturer claims this is good for you because it is not calcium carbonate. It is made from slaked lime (rocks). In the presence of carbon dioxide, it forms calcium carbonate that is also very bad for you! The MSDS (material safety data sheet) says it better than I can:

Potential Health Effects of Calcium Hydroxide:
----------------------------------

Inhalation:
Causes irritation to the respiratory tract. Symptoms may include coughing, shortness of breath. Can cause chemical bronchitis.

Ingestion:
Gastric irritant. Ingestion may be followed by severe pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and collapse. If death does not occur in 24 hours, esophageal perforation may occur, as evidenced by fall in blood pressure and severe pain. A narrowing of the esophagus may occur weeks, months, or years after ingestion, making swallowing difficult.

Skin Contact:
Corrosive. May cause severe burns and blistering, depending on duration of contact.

Eye Contact:
Corrosive. May produce severe irritation and pain. May induce ulcerations of the corneal epithelium. Can cause blindness.

Chronic Exposure:
Prolonged or repeated skin contact may produce severe irritation or dermatitis.

Aggravation of Pre-existing Conditions:
Persons with pre-existing skin problems or impaired respiratory function may be more susceptible to the effects of this substance.

This is what they are putting in your orange juice. Amazing. And they are telling you it's good for you? This is very typical of what is happening with processed foods in America and how the marketing team of these companies spin what they are doing. Cheaper manufacturing above health is the norm.

Buy organic valencia oranges and juice them for the best orange juice. When it's fresh, you get the nutrients nature intended for you to have in a good balance; not the store bought garbage that sits on the shelf for months and years that contains life-less synthetic vitamins that damage your DNA and shorten your life!

good luck to you

It could be nothing or it could be something serious, ither way it is always best to spend the money and find out. You do not want to hear "If only we would have caught this sooner". Than hearing your fine, now that will be $200.00.
