I use windows XP home. I have a digital camera. When I transfer photos from the memory stick to the computer and wish to view them, they are always opened with windows paint programme and the photo's are much larger than shown in the camera viewer, hence I can only see one part of the whole photo. I have Magix photo installed on the computer and would like to use that, but Windows Paint keeps appearing, how do I change to Magix. Thanks.

Jim

Windows, by default, opens JPG files using the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. When you install other photo programs, they often change the "file associations" in Windows. Adobe Photoshop Album Starter 3.0 is an example.

To change the File Association, right-click on any JPG and choose "Open With". Then click on "Choose Program..."

Choose the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, then Check the "Always use this program to open this kind of file." Box, then OK.

Now, Windows will use that app every time you double-click on a JPG, as it did when first installed.

Open your photo file, right click on the filename, then choose "open with" and left click with the program of your choice. Although it's older, I find working with either Microsoft Photo Editor or Adobe Photoshop easier.
