I am in the delayed entry program for the Marines... I have had asthma past 13th bday... (a disqualifying factor) Serving my country is what I want to do. I dont have problems with the asthma now. My recruiter told me to not tell MEPS. Did not, I know the possible punishment if caught. Recruiter said if my asthma resurfaced I'd get a medical discharge. Now... my friend got back from boot camp and told me someone had asthma in the platoon and he WAS allowed medication.., Why and how? Thanks and God Bless

There are different degrees of Asthma, the guys that come to Ft. Benning and all of a sudden develop Asthma (who lied at MEPS), are given a PFT (pulmonary function test) it tests how much air your lungs can hold, if you test lower than there standard your out, if you are higher you can continue any job any where with medicine and inhalers. So you can have Asthma just not bad Asthma tell MEPS they'll do the test and let you in if it's OK. DO NOT LIE TO MEPS. Repeat after me. DO NOT LIE TO MEPS. Fraudulent Enlistment is bad Lying to the government is bad!

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

I don't know what your requiter thinks he doing, but I think he's breaking a law by telling you to lie.
The Marines are about honor and duty, not telling lies.
.
You may not qualify to be in combat but you may have a skill that does not require any great amount of physical activity.
Get in honestly and you'll have something to be really proud of!

Are you kidding me!? Recruit standards are at an all time low! Just the other day I overheard a recruiter trying to convince a mentally disabled civilian to enlist. The funny part the guy was not disabled ENOUGH to join! lol

The standards are so low I'm wondering if they allow house pets to enlist? Did they cut of reasoning abilities as a requirement? My parrot can talk the insurgents to death.

the gas chamber is NO joke. do you want to run the risk of getting a sudden asthma attack in the middle of a firefight? stress is one of the BIGGEST triggers of asthma. is it fair to put your buddies in danger because of your selfishness and thoughtlessness?

you have committed fraudulent enlistment. WHEN you get caught( Not if, WHEN) you won't get a Medical DC, you will get a fraudulent enlistment discharge. which is far worse inthe military's eyes( and inthe eys of many employers)

Still can work indoors.
Not necessarily in the fields.
Why leave them out.
When they want to contribute with what ever they have for the good of mankind.
