Kids "bouncing off the walls" is not what ADHD causes directly, it is a biproduct of it. People with ADHD have trouble focusing on one thing at a time. In fact they are probably focusing on at least ten or more things at a time. Usually nothing that is even important to what is going on. The kids "bouncing off the walls" is caused because their brain is starting to send a signal but instead of that signal getting to where it is supposed to go it does not get there. researchers have said that the ADHD person's brain's half have the inabilty to talk to each other.
Stimulents increase blood flow by making the human body more efficient. They do not cause more hyperness as what you are thinking, it is giving energy. The desired effect of giving an ADHD person a stimulant is that it will increase the blood flow in the brain which will help that same person's brain to communicate better, helping to get the messages from one side of the brain to the Other.
Yes one big side effect of giving an ADHD person a stimulant is that they will have more energy. The trick is getting the right stimulat, as ther are many types, and the proper dose.
Stimulats are miracle drugs. However it is because they can so easily be abused by anyone, that they are not used to their full potential.
I hope I have helped.
Yours truly

If stimulants are prescribed appropriately for ADHD kids, they calm them; the theory is that the part of the brain that is responsible for attention in people with ADHD is groggy. That's why adhd people can get spacy and jumpy at the same time. Their brains are trying to figure a way out of being so spacy but they can't on their own. Stimulants are supposed to 'wake up' that part of the brain so if you have adhd you actually feel 'normal.' Think of a traffic cop who is asleep on the job. His duties are to make all your thoughts and perceptions operate in an orderly fashion. In adhd, the traffic cop is asleep, bu the stimulant wakes him up. Sometimes these drugs are not prescribed appropriately. But then again, all drugs are misprescribed at one time or another--antibiotics, aspirin, etc. The idea that using ritilan for other than medical purposes so drug companies can make money is stupid. It's been around for over 50 years and is about the cheapest drug on the market. A month's supply can cost like $10. It saved my life. I can tell you that. Besides which, I jump around and act crazy anyway--and have fun doing it., but it doesn't hurt anymore.

Its the old case of giving coffee to kids with ADHD yeah it works to. See the coffee makes a normal person hyper but it takes a kid who is hyper to a stand still at times. My son is ADD/ADHD/Bipolar so I have my hands full I don't give him any meds just yet cause its all manageable so far but the day is going to come soon when I have to put him on meds I know that. So for now to calm him down I have to give him coffee (the good stuff from the shop) and it makes him calm down so much its not funny. But see the coffee wears off after a few hours and the pills they give the kids is going ot work for around 12-18 hours. So they just took the coffee deal and made it a longer effect is all.

Not all drugs for ADHD are stims. Most are anti-depressants. However, Ritalin, has been such a mistake, and not because it is a bad medication, but because there are so many kids who have been misdiagnosed with ADHD. It's sick and sad. People want children to sit still and behave.. and they aren't meant to be that way 24/7. They're kids, they need to run and play and work off the energy that is naturally within them.

Adhd is a difficulty the place metabolism of dopamine metabolites is retarded. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter on the subject rely of interest and reward. Having too a lot dopamine makes a individual attempt to concentration on too many stuff and unable to truly concentration on something. Stimulants advance metabolism, for this reason shrink the quantity of extra dopamine, and shrink interest to general stages. Plus, it fairly is a completely candy benifit for soccer mom's searching for a rapid %.-me-up. ;-)
