I'll try to explain the logic of it. All I ask of you is to mull this over and keep an open mind. For one, as a Christian, God's existence is hard to comprehend because of His perfection and my imperfection.
Suppose you are God with your opposable thumbs, huge brain and capacity for imagination and communication, and you created maggots- and the maggots represent us people. Now you love these maggots because you created them, but its no fun when they sit there and do whatever you want them to do because that wouldn't be real love. So you give them the ability to choose to love you. And so you put out some good food for them to eat. But you know maggots- they saw the pile of crap and couldn't resist even though there was good food. So now all us maggots are all over the place eating some good food along with the crap until that's all they care about. So they turn into flies- and these flies are just dirtier than the maggots (which they are...) and making new fly rules and fly talk and they don't even know you anymore.
Now if you spoke to these flies, they wouldn't know how to understand the words coming out of your mouth and you're so big, they would probably fly away scared. And you still love them so the last thing you want to do is scare them. And you're so big and strong, you could make them do what you want but then they would only listen because they're scared, and not because they love you. So instead, you use a few of your maggots and flies that haven't forgotten about you, and you tell them what to write in maggot/fly speak- that way, the others won't be so afraid and they would be able to understand what you're saying to them.
Everytime someone from history encountered God, they were scared s***less. And the reality is, for most people on the fence, or just in plain denial, if God were to appear to them, they would be scared s***less too because that means everything about hell and sin would be true. We'd be brown nosing God ,groveling on the ground like a bunch of maggots asking Him if he'd like a foot massage, a cold beverage, or if there was anything else we could do for Him- not because you love Him, but because you fear Him.
Fortunately He's smarter than you or me. Words are much less intimidating yet no less powerful. They're His words, no matter who He used to get them down on paper.

Men wrote. God authored.
Prophets spoke. God filled their mouths with the words.
That's one of the roles of the Holy Spirit.
Ex. 4:15 all the way to 2 Peter 1.

You are capable of sin. So since you wrote something down I must disregard it. In fact I can never believe another thing I read or have a conversation with another human being because they are sinners and probably lying to me.
My life is going to suck if I have to be this shortsighted and close-minded forever.
----------------------
Sorry, but I have to add this. Also, I don't mind if people feel like they need to attack Christianity. It has plenty of flaws to attack. I just feel that this argument is so invalid, and based off of nothing solid.
"People who sin wrote the bible so we can't trust them." That's the premise brought up. My counter is that if this is true, then nothing we have ever written can be considered true or accurate, unless we have some perfect beings out there that are above doing any wrong.
-------------------------------
This is a comment from the asker to me and my subsequent response.
"My question is to illustrate the stupidity of the religious logic. You say all men are sinners-NOT ME! Live by your own logic."
Even this statement makes no sense to me. YOUR original question asks "that people capable of sin wrote the bible therefore shouldn't we discard it." YOUR original question asks "Despite people telling me that it is the word of god-MEN WROTE IT DOWN, and they are sinners. Therefore it cannot be trusted."
Based off of these 2 things, you are saying that anyone who has sinned or is capable of sinning cannot be taken seriously. YOUR OWN WORDS, NOT MINE.
So, based off of the logic YOU presented, you are saying that since man is capable of sin, things they say cannot be trusted. Why doesn't this apply to everyone like my original answer suggested? Or are you taking this "logic" and only applying it to the writers of the bible because that is the point you are trying to make, but everyone else in time is exempt from it?
Again, another quote from you, "You say all men are sinners-NOT ME!" So, according to this, you are the first person in history who has never commited a sin! Congratulations! I'm truely impressed.
Now is this because you really are perfect, or don't quite understand what a sin is? You've never called someone a name, wished harm on someone even if you didn't act on it, or anything else. Sins don't just refer to murder and theft. And even so what's your basis for calling the writers of the bible sinners, so we can't trust them.
-------------------
Comment and response again:
"Message: I am not a general sinner, normal people don't even use this 'sin' word, it is some man made nonsense to make christians paranoid.
"Based off of these 2 things, you are saying that anyone who has sinned or is capable of sinning cannot be taken seriously. YOUR OWN WORDS, NOT MINE."
When basing my whole life on something I would not trust any men to tell the truth if connected with religion and who lived in backward times."
my response
I believe you are not a general sinner. But your argument stated that the writers of the bible were sinners so they could not be trusted. How do you know they were sinners which discredits their writings? And if sin is just a made up word with no real meaning, again why use it as evidence to support your own argument?
You would not trust any man connected with religion and living in backward times????
Who is living in backward times? The bible was written a couple thousand years ago, but that doesn't mean Cristians are living in the past. These writings are meant to be a guide and are apllied to issues today. Plus as religions go, Christianity is relatively new, so why not attack other religions that are much older, and in general more strict in their ways.
Plus if you can't trust anyone who is religious, I'm sorry that you will live such a lonely and (again) close-minded life. 1st, religious people aren't in general saying that they are 100% correct and everyone must believe them or they are wrong. It is a belief system that people loosely guide their lives around, not an absolute way of life. 2nd, do some homework on how many people consider themselves religious, even to some extent. Includes buddhism, hindu, islam, christianity, taoists . . . . . .
If you can't trust anyone religious, that will probably take away most music you listen to, a lot of athletes and actors you like, a bunch of your friends. . . . .

Man did write the bible inspired by God. When you are in a home church, follow Gods word, be baptized with the holy spirit and be obedient to God, you will experience the holy spirit. In our church, which is filled with the holy spirit, our pastor does not study the bible to create a sermon for the service, he lets the holy spirit dwell with in him just before the service and it lets him know of what to preach about. That is God's system!
If the bible were written only by man's thoughts, then how do explain that the bible describes exactly what our church does, when it follows God's Word?
Man can never be rightgous. We are all sinners, you can not keep from sin (1 John 1: 7 - 10)
IF you have faith in Jesus, then you are saved by grace and you are not under the 10 commandments..
If you do not believe, then you are still under the 10 commandments

God is not the author of confusion, but you appear to be.
Never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit, or the Church that he guides, from age to age.

I agree...but that is where "faith" comes into play. Faith that God would not allow man to corrupt "his word" to the point that it wasn't somehow valid.
; )
you gotta know 'they' hate it when man creates God, etc.
