I feel the same. Unfortunately however very little has any true value or meaning anymore and people go for it. So T.V. producers think "well sex sells and violence is always good," so that's what you and I and the rest of the people who don't want to see it get disgusted with. However one day there will be a cleansing and that will be a grand day. God bless you.

X is right, look who owns the TV companies. And look at the President we have--thousands of innocents would still be alive if not for him. He's getting paid to kill.
Violence, however, is part of nature and seen in every creature on the planet, just like nudity. It doesn't hurt to see, even if it offends you, and at least you have a choice. And psychiatrists have proven bad video games and movies won't make a kid go violent, the only kids that are influenced are those with psychological problems that were already there, the ones with bad mentality or bad family life.
I would like to see some more good news stories on, but they just don't do that often. People get drawn in by bad things on TV, things that worry them. They want to be informed, and in the world today things are bad. Again, because of all of our conservative leaders...that hurt innocent people and paste it on the news as "anti-terrorism" while they kill children in another country.
I'm sorry the news sucks so bad, and that there's never anything good on. Personally I'm buying that "Planet Earth" DVD from Discovery Planet. It looks amazing!

One thing to do is what you are doing, and that is not watching the networks, except TBN. I quit watching tv probably 5 years ago. I had it on for some political debates, and that was all. I get my news from the radio mostly.
Keep the family from watching tv. Play board games, and have good family videos.

I just answered another question and said basically the same thing. This is spiritual warfare and the devil plans to win! There is so much more tolerated cursing and taking God's name in vain it seems in every other sentence, much less all the constant violence and sexual innuendos. I have heard my kids say "I know, mom,.....we don't say those things" because I have said that so many times.....but we still watch the shows. That forms a pattern in our minds and desensitizes us to all that garbage....like it is just part of the norm. I have tried to switch programs or go in the other room or talk over whatever is on but it is like an addiction. You must have constant "entertainment" ....if you can call it that. I truly do understand why it says "Be STILL and know that I am God"!

Yes. I don't watch as much TV as much as I use to.
I discovered Yahoo! But if I want to watch, I have to be very selective. I buy DVDs now and pick and choose my own shows (even if they are old).
Also, way back around 1998, I started taping TV shows + commercials (I love commercials) that I enjoyed because I knew they would be taken off the air.
So for me, its all good.

As a young Christian I feel just as disgraced as you are. I try to watch shows that doesn't have filth, and everytime I do catch a show with it, the Holy Spirit tells me that it's wrong. Nowadays, the only you 'can' do is stop your children from watching t.v. There's nothing anyone can do; America is turning into an extremely sinful nation, just look around. I guess this is a signaling of His return.

All this violence and sex has taken over. Its what the media has sold to society of what is alright and acceptable to our youths. It is really sad. You can't control everyone else but you can control what goes on in your home. I suggest put restrictions on your television or not watch it at all. There is channels that are clean just not as much as we would like.

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.
We are to fill our mind with the things mentioned in the above Scripture so it helps if we do not watch all the trash on tv. We are exhorted to die to the flesh but the tv protrays people acting out their flesh in most vile way. We ought to disregard and not be reminded of our flesh which we should know has been crucified with Christ (Romans 6:6). Watching the wrong programs on tv of the world will stumble us in our walk with God. Everyone should learn to be very selective of what they watch on tv, only the good wholesome programs.

Watch a DVD. Not everyone in America is Christian. I'm an adult and I choose what I watch on TV.
Watching the news makes me ill, too. I'm sick to death that our so-called Christian president has sent so many young people to be brutaly slaughtered and disfigured in Iraq.
Maybe if Christians bitched about the war as much as you are bitching about TV, we'd be better off.
