All you need is your ID. Hand it to the clerk at the check in counter and they will give you your boarding pass and gate information.

I work in the travel industry. I have been both an airline customer service agent and now am a travel agent. So I have seen both ends. Airline tickets are so expensive for many different reasons. The first one is the government deregulated the airlines in the 1970's... What does this mean? It means that the airlines are able to charge what ever they choose for people to fly. The second reason and it seems to be the most prominent at the moment is the airlines are crying that they are not making any money (which is why they are filing bankruptcy and not paying commission to anyone who books their travel anymore). Airline Exec-ts are still getting allot of money for their "pay" and the little guy that actually does all the work does and not get any thanks. The cost of fuel is a part of the extra cost, but the extra security fees since 9/11 are not that much. They range in cost of about $7.50 per trip (not per ticket). You of course have other fees that are included like: Passenger Facility Charges, US Taxes, International Taxes (if you are flying international), Security Fees, Fuel, etc.

You just need your confirmation number (Usually six digits long) and an id. If you don't have your confirmation number, you can use your flight number and they can look up all the info from there. You can show up to the airport with your id and tell them what flight you are on. Their is no ticket to lose/forget. It is supposed to take the hassle out of travelling. It's all stored in the airlines computer system.

Keep your electronic ticket receipt (print it out if it's online) just in case they can't find your reservation. Otherwise, all you need to do is get to the airport on time, and present your photo ID (driver's license). Depending on the airport, you'll either check in at a counter with an airline employee who will look up your name and check you in. In some airports, you check in with a credit card (you don't pay any more than you already have, they just use your card to look you up).

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The e-ticket receipt is just insurance.

Bon voyage!

works same as a paper ticket for airport entry and check ( issue of boarding pass). The advantage of e-ticket is that if you have lost your ticket before the start of the journey you may get duplicate copy of this ticket and can make as many copies as you want. With PNR No you can get copy of the ticket at airport also.but holder of this ticket must carry valid photo ID which could be valid driving lience, valid passport, Pan Card, Photo ID issued by the government authority etc

Airlines that use e-tickets typically have self-check-in kiosks as well. You enter the e-ticket number into the kiosk and it prints out your boarding pass. You can often log on to the airline's website within 24 hours of the flight and check in/print your boarding pass from your own computer.

The check in desk ladies will ask you the printed version of your e-ticket. They also check your credit card that you've been used for transaction. They might ask about visa as well. If you are British, they will ask you to provide return flight to USA.

Some airlines provides online check in. All you need just drop your bag and you actually on seat. They provide special desk for for this. No hassle no queue at all.

Just print out the check in form usually day of or 24 hours in advance and sow up with that and your photo ID. You can either show them at the baggage claim check in, or the podium.
