I have a 75" reach which is long for someone in the lighter weight classes. I have always found it to be an advantage in full contact, sport karate fighting, as well as in real situations. In the first two you constantly move and readjust and try to keep your opponent out there at the end of it especially if he is shorter or has less reach. Being able to fight moving backwards as well as moving forwards is very important for accomplishing this along with good footwork and always being aware of where you are at in the ring.
In real life situations I also try to capitalize on using my reach if the distance is there or am equally effective with my knees and elbows when that person is close in and you can't get good extension. Most well trained martial artists and fighters will be able to fight at not only long range but medium and short range. They will be able to shorten their punches and kicks and make the adjustments and use a variety of other techniques as the situation dictates and the distance changes.

I'm short at 5' 6", and had no problems fighting long or short reach opponents. The main focus is be confidence on your technique, speed, power and most of all having fun. Once you worry about a physical factor, you are already losing before you enter the ring.

I have no idea of my reach, but I think it's pretty good. Not as good as my Sempi, who's an ameatur boxer, but pretty good. Sometimes I use a backfist as initial contact, or sometimes I turn into Cat stance to extend my straight punch to get another on someone who's backing away. Use whatever tools you have. My sensei didn't have much reach at all, but would always get inside your guard and destroy you with punches, kicks, grabs, throws and submissions.

I'm not sure what my reach is, it's never really been an issue for me. If I can outrange my opponent then I do, if I can't then I sit in close quarters. Usually I let my opponent dictate the begining as this will show you where they are comfortable then I like to do the opposite. If they like in close I'll out range, if they like range, I'll go in close, if the adapt to in close I'll grapple, if they want to grapple, I'll play evasive ect

i have a 79 inch reach and of course i find it as an advantage. im 5'11 and only a hundred and fifty pounds so alot of my opponents reach is way shorter than mine and i exploit it to the fullest.

I can reach my *** ( to wipe it) and my dick (to hold it).
Neither are advantageous during fighting .
