There are two piles of different stuff that our minds are stuffed with as we grow; religious stuff and everything else. Those unfortunate enough to be born into an overly religious family obviously have a lot of religious stuff stuffed into their minds with little room for any other stuff. The fortunate people born into families that don’t overly care for religion have general knowledge, science, the arts, history, geography, you know, useful stuff stuffed into their minds. Most people form their general theories of reality from these two different kinds of stuff and an equilibrium forms between the two. This is usually formed by adolescence and then doesn’t change much for the rest of their lives unless a traumatic event upsets the equilibrium.

your theory looks like a theory, however it is an oversimplification of the reality. You divide everything into two parts belief and the rest, but you could as well divide everything into eductation and the rest, or enough nutricion and the rest, or enough time to think and the rest, having an modal income and the rest, having one parent and the rest.
and this list grows and grows.

The only knowledge you have is that which you directly experiance, everything else is belief. The best solution is to develop a system of belief derived from what you choose are the best indirect experiances as supported by your direct experiances. That's what I do anyway.

Is it possible for a traumatic event to upset your equilibrium ?? Watch out what kind of stuff you stuff into your head ! I think extra large, is the largest size hat that can be bought.

I agree with you....but I would appreciate it, if you could consider the plight of the people with "religious stuff"....crammed into their brains.

Some of them actually use their own experiences in life...to re-discover themselves.

The fortunate people....have the advantage, because they don't have to undo the doing that others have forced on the religious "ne'er do wells".

Nuff said?

This is faulty. Many religious people have not grown up in religious homes. Many religious people have wide and varied interests beyond religion.
