Just because it goes up, doesn't mean that you have to have sex. Sometimes, guys get erections for no reason. With guys, it's just a way to say "Hey, I'm enjoying this!" Some guys get em from going on a roller coaster! It's not a bad thing. All it means is he is enjoying the kiss. And the masturbation thing is normal, too. Most everyone does it. But no worries. It's just nature, that's all!

Firstly its not a silly question. How are you going to find out if you don't ask?
My guess is that the both of you are teens. Am I right?
For teen boys this is not an unusual occurance. In fact a lot find that they can get an erection, at the most inappropriate time, for no real reason at all.
The important thing to remember is that you are not responsible for his erections, and should never feel pressured to "do it" because he's in the mood. You are right to wait until its right for you, and if that's not until your married, that's ok too. Just try to make sure that it doesn't go too far so make it hard for both of you to stop then.

a) It means he is a normal, healthy male ready to reproduce, if the occasion arises.
b) If you like him, you could give him a handjob. If that's too far outside your moral boundaries, then just thank him for letting you know that he finds you sexy.
c) Waiting until marriage is pretty silly. What if your future husband has *totally* different tastes in the bedroom than you do? Or a completely different sex drive? It seems like you are setting yourself up for some major disappointments. But do as you wish.

It means just that he has a high sexual drive. This is normal for a young person. You should not do anything about it. You wish to be a virgin until you are married and nobody's sex drive should change your moral opinion.

We honestly can't help it. Its just our hormones. It stops when we start to get heart disease in our 40's. So if you are waiting for boys to "behave", you'll be a spinster first.
If the boy actually likes you'll he'll be a little embarassed. But that is part of how you know he likes you. If nothing else, it should tell you he's not gay.
