it is the bastion of people who can not create a valid argument. rather than explain themselves they simply point to a video and say "See, Look, it's on YouTube! It must be true!"
Mostly I find it is the "Truthers" who rely on YouTube to make their argument for them. They lack the basic social skills to create logical and reasonable arguments otherwise. Also I suspect they are hoping some other cretin will see the video and fall in to line with them.
Honestly if they put a link to Youtube I know they are hardly worth arguing with (but I still do) hehe.

I have to disagree, however, there is a decent argument: If the person has seen the video and agrees with everything that is said on it, then that IS his/her opinion maybe not all of it, but at that given time, reacting to a particular question, that is what they feel is best to reinforce what they feel. (And most likely, the thought of not wanting to type out what someone can link to and see for themselves) Of course, as most will agree, the media has done a great job of cramming things into peoples heads that are distorted, edited, or just plain false. Some may be true, but are usually polished off in order to make it smell like roses, or to their satisfaction as a legit story. So to say that it doesn't have any legitimacy may be true but, with the media distorting and holding back the facts (or the facts are held from the media at the time) enough so that peoples opinions are distorted as well, then you have as you say Garbage In, Garbage Out.
So if the media keeps filling the air waves, internet with enough garbage to satisfy the general population from their curiosity, then it really cannot be blamed on them. Even though YOU and a few choice other may know where to get accurate, clean, uncut facts, the general population relies on, and doesn't care enough to seek this out, but to rely on the quick fix of the media wheel that has obviously spiraled out of control. I see that currently there is no way, at this time, to appear there is no way of stopping it (and if there was, it would most likely be fed misinformation just to throw a monkey wrench in the genereal population any way) , so in the meantime, you will also have to accept the fact that unless you were there when it happened, even your "facts" are distorted as well from your sources. Ever play a game as a kid where you sat in a circle and whispered a sentence read from a piece of paper and by the time it got back to you it was something different? Ever heard of a place being robbed in front of 10's of witnesses only to have them all have something in the robbers discription to be different? This could be looked at YouTube opinions or, even yours. So we have, in my opinion, a choice, either accept what is given as fact, or look for alternates and consider and weigh out the options, in the end, good chance what you are comfortable as being a solid opinion based on facts is just distorted information.
Just a thought...

I don't think most political opinions have "legitimacy". Most I've heard are just regurgitated from the media.
Garbage in, garbage out no matter where you stuff it.
