The Trinity is the term employed to signify the central doctrine of the Christian religion -- the truth that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these Three Persons being truly distinct one from another.
Thus, in the words of the Athanasian Creed: "the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God." In this Trinity of Persons the Son is begotten of the Father by an eternal generation, and the Holy Spirit proceeds by an eternal procession from the Father and the Son. Yet, notwithstanding this difference as to origin, the Persons are co-eternal and co-equal: all alike are uncreated and omnipotent. This, the Church teaches, is the revelation regarding God's nature which Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came upon earth to deliver to the world: and which she proposes to man as the foundation of her whole dogmatic system.

i hope this helps you in your inquest of the meaning of the holy trinity.

It is the foundation relationship between physical and spiritual.... in a human context, between man and Women.

The Trinity is how the physical/man relates to the spiritual/Women;
a. 'father' = obediance, is extending the freedom of the Women. Becoming an instrument, an extension, and therefore increasing her capability and reach.

b. 'son' = poverty, giving yourself entirely to a Women. Detachment from self allows focus and to be closer to the struggles of others caused by this male run world.

c. 'holy spirit' = chastity, not complete but identification of orgasm as the highest form of connection with the Feminine energy - and as such should only occur under direction of a Women. Assumed for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, as a sign of the future world and a source of more abundant fruitfulness in an undivided heart, entails the obligation of perfect continence in celibacy. Its practice assumes that persons consecrated by the vows of religion place at the center of their affective life a "more immediate" relationship with the Goddess through service, in the Spirit.

So what about Women! They are the most valuable creatures on the Earth so should be protected and of utmost health, meaning they should really only worry about things that make them happy and safe!

Only then will man and Women be truly joined to form a trinity with the third being a true purpose, as a unit of three.

that's what it is?
what more would you like to know?
Are you just baffled by the mystery of it or something?
Its one of those things that no one can explain. some people say that the Trinity are something like how we are made up
we have a mind, body, and soul right
Christ is the body
God the Father is the mind
and the Holy Spirit is the soul, or Spirit
this is just a metaphor, not real though
it does say that we were made in God's image in Genesis
So there are a lot of similarities to the way we are and the way God is.

No such thing as trinity, word not even found in the Bible. Would you want to worship a god that is 3-in-1, something like the 4-faced Buddha that the Thais worship? I wouldn't!

Jehovah = God
Jesus = The Son of God
Holy Spirit = God's Power (that enabled Him to do His marvellous creations. Same Power given to Jesus and some disciples to perform miracles like resurrecting the dead, healing the sick, etc.)

Why is the "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" necessarily a metaphor?

Some of the greatest theologians have contemplated and tried to define it, but it's just not possible; three persons in one God.

However, some "simple" analogies have been made over the years to try to help people have some understanding.

St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Trinity: 3 leaves, but all make up one shamrock.

I've also heard it explained this way: I am a mother, a wife, and a daughter; three persons in one.

Well my understanding is the holy trinity does represent the father the son and the holy spirit. Three individuals yet one. I was always confused how someone can be three yet one. It was explained to me that water can be a liquid, a solid and a gas- three yet one. That's simplistic but that is all I can offer.

No, they can't. It is a spiritual matter and not an intellectual one.

If you know God, you will know God as one yet three persons. If you don't know God, it won't make any "sense".

1 John 4:4-6

4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
(from New International Version)

This ancient document spells it out as clearly as it can be stated. But the Trinity cannot be fully comprehended by the human mind.

trinity, it means there are three
three "personas"-here in the philippines we call it that way, personas , three personas of god
there is one god, but god is infinite, he can have unlimited number of personas
god who is in heaven is one, the almighty
then god became man, jesus, he was of the same level as god, philippian 2:6, and he was part of god
then theres the holy spirit who is given to guide us
