Seriously, why does homosexuality exist if it's against God? I'm not homosexual or bisexual myself, but I don't see anything against it in this day and age. Maybe two thousand years ago when the human population of the Earth was still fairly small and homosexuality was a real threat to survival, but these days, it's not that big a deal. And if God's method of doing something against him is by using the powers of a priest, then he can't be all powerful because he can't do it himself. (I think I should point out that homosexuality exists in other animals, too)

EDIT: Oh, and if the death of Jesus is God's method of "saving people from their sins" then why does it still exist, two thousand years later?

EDIT: And don't say anything about the stories from the Old Testament where God destroys cities; if God hates even one thing, he can't be an all-loving God.

EDIT: In response to one of the answers, yes, I do believe that animals can reason as we do, they just don't speak our languages; they have their own. (my own belief, you do not have to agree) As for aids, I would think that would be more of a warning against drugs and prostitution than homosexuality, because the former two lead to aids far more than the latter.

EDIT: Oh, and another thing: homosexuality is not a choice anymore than heterosexuality; if homosexuality were a choice, there would be no need for some gays and lesbians to hide themselves.

And just what do you think "Aids and all the other STD's are all about?"

If you stayed with one man, one woman, and did not sin by poking needles into your body full of drugs then all these could not come upon mankind.

If these sins did not exist then blood transfusions would be safe.

Pain and suffering for sins here on earth and destruction on the judgement day.

Sounds to me like He is giving warnning after warnning before the judgement comes.

When you say "other animals" are you suggesting that those animals can reason like a human being? In that case they are sinners too? or perhaps it is just the animal instinct that makes them that way.

Ok, bear with me. I'm going to try to condense three week's worth of classes on the purpose of life into one post:

'K, here we go:

God created the world in order for people to be happy. The greatest happiness possible is being close to God. The thing is, it's embarrassing to get something you don't deserve or haven't earned. Think about people who have to live on charity. God didn't want people to feel like beggars, so He makes us earn that closeness (from now on to be called "heaven"). This is accomplished by sending us down to the world where we can do good. There'd be no achievement in doing good if there wasn't the possibily of evil. Q.E.D., bad things are an essential part of God's plan.

(Trust me, it sounded a lot better when my teacher said it).

Ok, so we've established that we need the bad to make the good meaningful. So God gives us certain personality traits and urges, such as anger, jealousy, laziness, and, yes, homosexuality. We are supposed to overcome these traits, and earn our reward.
I'm not saying it's easy. The Rabbis say that it can take a lifetime to change one ingrained character trait, and the religious homosexual is in an especially difficult position. Think of it this way- God obviously thinks you have tremendous spiritual strength if He hands you a challange like being gay.
As for why God says that homosexuality is bad in the first place, the answer is... because. The same God who says that breaking the Sabbath is bad, and cursing is bad, says that two men living together are bad. Some things we just can't explain.

All this talk of judgement day is making me sick! The only person who judges us is ourself. There is nothing wrong with homosexuality. Linda made a good point REINCARNATION many lifes as the other gender would certainly cause this. Maybe some people choose to be homosexual to learn lessons about discrimination. How can an all loving omnipotent God have humanized feelings of wrath, vengence, and hate. People do you remember that God is not human? God does not think like you do! God is perfect we are not!!!! Why do people believe everything they read. GOD & JESUS did not write the bible. Remember humans did, humans are the ones who are capable of hate, bigotry, predjudice, discrimination and on and on it goes! When jesus said "Love Thy Neighbor" that includes your homosexual neighbors too!!!!! Ignorance Is Not Bliss!!!! Blessings!!!

c'mon here---Man was given free will to make choices.
Man was also given "guidelines" in regard to LIFE...and how to live it.
Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God but then again.....HE gave humans free choice and doesn't force anyone to do HIS will
and speaks plainly.
"The issues of life and death have been put before you, therefore choose life......"
--------------
And if God's method of doing something against him is by using the powers of a priest, then he can't be all powerful because he can't do it himself. (I think I should point out that homosexuality exists in other animals, too)----------------
using the powers of a priesT ?????????
homo animals are excluded from the rest of the pack/ herd/group as even the animals know this is unnatural order.

if people who suggest that God is not all powerful are against God, then why doesn't He do something about them?

He has done something about it, he forbids it. If you believe God, then you will obey, you have been saved from a sin. Others may not think you are correct, but that is also traditional.

People who ask questions like the above seem to want God to hit people over the head or something, ignoring the fact that He would come and hit them first.

Because the Divine, the Maker of All Life, has no problem with same-sex love--that's part of the Divine Plan for human diversity.

No, it's right-wing evangelical extremists who have a problem with gays and lesbians.

Of course, if they read their own Gospel closely, they'd notice that Jesus never says one negative thing about gays or lesbians. But in the Gospels, Jesus on 23 occasions condemns narrowminded religious zealots who judge others.

Wow, what a question! God can do whatever God wants. It's people who think He is limited. Jesus did not need to die to forgive our sins. Man needed than in order to believe him. remember sacrifice was a law.
According to part of my belief, which is that reincarnation is a fact. Sometimes a homosexual was a woman in her past life, but came back as a man with the same attraction to women left over. Whatever it is whatever it is. But you are right. it is not a choice. Who would want to choose something that causes so much pain?
Except I wish I were a lesbian. I've lost my best gf trying to be with her. If she could have lived without sex, she would be my wife now.

Blessed Be

I wanna keep this short, and not go all Scriptiual now.
So, simply put...
1 goes in, 1 goes out...and they fit together
like....
a hand & glove or
salt & pepper or
p.b. & j.

He has, He forbade it.
We have free will, and do what we want,
what feels good, where ever it may take us.

He doesn't Force us to serve Him,
Nor does He Not Force us against Him.
It's Not Natural, it's not Normal. (i.e. normal- usual)
It's Not O.K.
And He will Do away with all unrighteousness, soon.
Wait for it.
The separating is goin' on NOW.
Priests have Nothing more to do w/ it then the rabbits out there running from a fox.
Jesus is the Only Mediator between us and Jehovah God.

Many sins are listed by God. He has done something; He has told us that they are sin and should not be done by us.

Those who choose to sin will find that when they come before Him to be judged, He will DO something.

Rom 2:12-16

12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
(from New International Version)

God is long suffering not desiring anyone to perish, so He is giving more time for people to repent, but the day will come and will not delay when all sin must be judged, not only homosexuality ,but also includes abortion and the whole range of sin.
