If your parents are 81 and 70, they live in a whole other world that you know very little about. They have all kinds of health complications. It would be very considerate if you could just give them a quick phone call and alert them that you have arrived. Or maybe you'd rather let them know when they can expect you to visit them. Then they can go ahead with their plans. Any kind of distraction can cause them to forget their meds, etc, they may be having problems with indigestion, or diarrhea, any number of things. Their lives have slowed down considerably.

well, u did'nt have to tell us that ur 50, lol.... plus at 50 mom and dad are still on ur case, lol...
as long as u have good loving parents here on earth, you'll never get the space you FEEL you need, that's just what moms and dads do. you really should'nt feel this way tho. they are 81 and 70, so their time with you is getting limited. you should cherish every min. you have with them. at their age, they problay don't get out like they use to, so they are just very excited when you come down to visit them. it also may be that they want to make sure you made it home safely.
my mom would'nt even go to bed if i was out until she knew i was home safely, this was even after i was out and married, lol... but, it is a parent thing. if this were reversed and they were the ones traveling, and it was time for them to be in, wouldn't you want to know they made it in safely??
think about it; what would you loose by taking 2 min. of ur time to call up mom and dad, and say " hey mom, we just made it in, we'll be coming over later"? besides, u never know, that 1 early call could save one of their lives one day. would'nt it be bad if somethin happened to one of them, if u were only 5 min. late on calling them.
they raised you for yrs and yrs, and they love you very much, so ppz take the time to show them how much you love them, you only have one set of parents and they are not guarteened to be here for ever. cherish them now, for when they are no longer with you, you will only have memories and you would be wishing you could call them, and wish they could fill this space that they once didn't give... ;>)
