I am assuming you want to add muscle. Unless you want to just add fat you have to be patient. Also since you are only sixteen you still have a lot of natural growth coming. Eat more often. Instead of three big meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) eat six to eight smaller meals spread throughout the day. The idea being that you constantly keep your body "fueled." You still have to eat healthy though. Consentrate on high protien and high carbs. Also get a lot of protien quickly after a workout. A protien shake just after a workout and a solid meal about an hour later is good. Set clear goals and be patient ... say 3 to 4 pounds a month. There are no short cuts or magic pills.

Hey there :) I'm doing the same thing! Apparently, to gain weight you should exercise as you gain, so that you turn the fat into muscle. Eat dairy products, fish, eggs, fruits, potatoes, green beans, peanut butter, avocado and bananas. Drink alot of milk and eat more than you usually would. Takes some getting used to, but if you really want to gain then you're going to have to try. You need to be taking in more calories than you are burning off. Also .. try to eat more within the first 20 minutes of a meal.

You can eat a lot, but your system will digest just as fast. I don't think you should try to gain weight now. When you grow up, you don't want the weight, but it keeps on coming. So remain constant is the best method for the future benefit.

Why do you want to? If you need to qualify for a higher weight division or something, then body building can help you gain mass, but in general, if you are just a bit thin, that's healthy. Getting fat at your age would be a disaster later.
