personally i would still take it to her and ask her if she lost some money. if she said yes then ask how much. if she said the five then i would give it to her. honesty is always more important than collecting a debt. you will come off as honourable and she will be reminded that she owes you.

tell her you found it, and your keeping it and knocking the 5 off the 400 hounded she owes you, it will show her that you didn't forget about the 400 she owes you and she may get the hint that you want to be paid back., regardless of how it makes her feel, it still makes her see she has a debt that is unpaid.

Oh the humanity!!! If she needs the $5 she will come looking for it. If your certain it is hers, give it back. She borrowed from you and you lent it willingly. On the other hand, you are pretty much stealing if you know something belongs to somebody and you take it. If you are really in need of the money like to buy milk or something then go buy it and if she says anything tell her you found money to buy milk with.

I'd give it back. I did the same thing with a non-family member when I found a $20 bill on the ground. I'd do the same thing even if it was $5000. Karma has a nasty way of biting you in the butt when you steal from other people.

Tell her you found her $5 and you'll deduct that sum from the $400 she owes you.

I would tell her that I found it. Tell her that since it appears that she did not need it, you are going to apply it to the $400 she owes you.

please i would give her the five dollars lord it is only five dollars. if it was 500 dollars i would tell her i found her 500 dollars and since she owed me 4 i will give her 100 back. and that way we would be even. unless she really needed it for bills or somthing then i would give it back to her and let her pay her bills but i would tell her i do need the money soon.

I would just return it asking her to be careful in such matter and add (in parenthesis) that she may not haved borrow from anybody if only she is careful.
