I really want to lose weight this summer. My ideal weight loss would be 60 pounds. I have started a new diet where i only eat 520 calories a day and i do 50 laps in my pool, and also 500 crunches. How much weight would i lose doing this in a month?

If you're doing that much excersize, you NEED TO EAT more. Otherwise, you'll gain all of that weight back (and probably plus some) when you start eating normally. Ideally, you should consume about 1200 calories a day and excersize also. That way, you can be healthy and lose the recommended 2-3 pounds/week.

Eating 520 calories a day is WAY too low. I don't know how big your pool is but that may be a good start to cardio, but it is a non-weight bearing exercise which means you won't build muscle doing it. 60-90 minutes of cardio at 70-80 percent of your max heart rate ( 220 minus your age times .70 or .80) plus 3-4 days of weight training is the ideal way to fitness. Your calorie intake depends on how many calories you ate before your started trying to lose and your current weight and you height. Don't cut it so low or your body will go into starvation mode and you will burn up muscle as fuel.

Please, eat sensibly! 520 calories pr day is starviation level! Plus, you are being excessive in your exercise routine--50 laps in the pool, and 500 crunches?
The best way to lose weight (and be able to truly keep it off) is to eat 3-6 small meals per day-of all basic food groups-carbs--breads, pasta, potatoes, etc., proteins--cheese, meat, etc., veggies--carrots, salads, brocolli, etc. and fruits--apples, oranges, melons, etc.
Drink either 8 - 8 oz glasses, or 4 -16-20 oz bottles of water per day. To keep you properly hydrated, thereby flushing out the excess stuff out of your system. Keep you healthy. The first few pounds one loses is water weight.
Speaking of weight, please, do yourself a HUGE favor, not to weigh yourself more than once per week--water weight makes your weight flucuate daily-therefore for accuracy, pick the same day, time of day, and weight of clothing (nightgown, etc.) to weigh yourself. Example, Friday morning, after potty break, just before a shower (maybe n**de), before breakfast, before eating/drinking anything. Then, shower, dress, eat breakfast, take a good multi-vitamin, start drinking your water throughout the day.
A female adult, baseline weight, at 5' tall, 100 lbs. Add 5 lbs for every inch over 5'. Also, consider bone structure--small med, or large. The bigger, add a few lbs. For instance, an adult female, 5"6" tall, large boned, should weigh approx. 135-145 lbs.
On this starvation diet you are on currently, you may lose a lot of weight to begin with, but, there is a downfall to this method. 1) You will be fighting really strong cravings for "real" food soon. 2) Your body's metabolism will slow down-to starvation mode. Due to the fact that is what you are currently doing, your body does not know when the next meal will come, or how much it will get, therefore, your body will slow down it's metabolism, therefore holding onto the weight it does have, to survive. Also, your body will go from using fat to "live off of" to eating muscle-like even possibly damage your heart muscle. Not good at all.
Please, speak with your dr. about seeing a nutritionist to get the proper well balanced, healthy diet. Based on calories, it won't be that hard. You will be amazed as to how much "real food" you will be able to eat, and still lose weight-properly.

Depends on your metabolism. You can reduce your food intake so much that your body thinks that you are starving and it will slow your metabolism so that you don't starve to death or lose any weight. Drink lots of water. . .you should lose lots but don't lose your health. I've lost and gained a ton of weight over the years. It's true what they say about life style changes. It's the ONLY way to keep it off. Plus after you stop your diet or fall off of it, your metabolism seems to slow so that when you gain the weight back, you will weigh a bit more. Plus check out Dr. Phil and find out why you are over weight. And last, when you change your habits, you must substitute one behavior for another. So when you're used to putting food in your mouth, find out why you do this and find another behavior to fill in. It will help. It's like when you stop smoking and deal with the addiction. You also have to deal with the physical aspect of smoking. That's why people start putting food in their mouth instead of a cigarette and gain weight. And after reading Dr. Phil, read Dr. Sears about eating balanced small meals. He will help you understand the insulin/sugar action in your body. People that gain weight easily usually have problems along this line. Don't hurt yourself, you pay for everything you do to your body sooner or later. You can still eat pretty good and take a vitamin pill. Lots of luck.

First of all, you need to eat more calories. And you will probably gain muscle weight. But fat takes up more room than muscle.
But you will ruin your metabolism if you eat that few calories. So then, after you've become sick because of the amount of calories you aren't getting, you will gain more weight back.

You'll be in the emergency room before you know it!!! 500 calories...sh!........

You'll lose water weight and be dehydrated you moron!

faster then you might think although eating that little calories is unhealthy
