Uh... your making a big assumption aren't you? 1) I am a Christian and I don't say nasty things about gay people. 2) my best friend in high school was gay.

In the eyes of God all people are in need of forgiveness, gay, straight or otherwise. So, there is no significant difference between myself and a gay person, we are both sinners who deserve to be seperated from a perfect God and thus both need the grace of God. If we both accept the grace of God then we are equal in his sight. If we understand the grace of God we will seek to live obediently, no matter the temporary cost. And, that small sacrifice of will may be different for myself and a gay person.

Well, according to the Christian religion, it is a perversion, it is against nature...in the sense that gays can't produce. I was once a Christian and I became a Unitarian Universalist. One of the many reasons I did so was because of that issue. I didn't see a problem with being gay. It wasn't a sin. It wasn't their choice to be gay. It's just who they are. And I watched as my fellow Christians persecuted them. And prayed for them. And I too didn't understand why we needed to pray for them. They were created by God and made this way. They seemed to have a purpose being this way and we shouldn't shun them. The Christian God is against it, but if God is perfect why would he make people who are in his eyes "imperfect." To answer your question, I don't think gays go to hell because, in my opinion, God made them the way they are so I don't think he'd punish them for something he did. There is no difference between gay and straight people...the only difference is they are attracted to people with a different physical appearance. But is that any different than saying "you're going to hell because you love someonhe with blond hair." I don't think so.

They are different because they love people of the same sex. I mean love in a romantic way. Watch a gay parade and tell me it isn't different. Even when AIDS first came out and they were warned severely about what it could do to them they continued to do it and almost all of them paid the price. (that's not being different, though).

Show me in the New Testament where it says that gays will go to hell. Gays will only go to hell if they disobey God's word.

Back before over population was even a concept; small groups of people were doing what humans do best, struggling to dominate one another. There is strength in numbers so breeding more people was important for the goals of the group. There were no laboratories to inseminate someone nor was there sperm banks or frozen egg storage. In order to breed it was absolutely necessary for a man to impregnate a woman. No other method worked in those days. It was bad for the group if men or women refused to do this so customs and laws were created to discourage people from having sex with the wrong sex. When religions were created they were used to reinforce these customs. That’s why we are told that homosexuals go to hell.
I know that’s not the politically correct version and right now someone is desperately praying that I am sent directly to hell for daring to put a logical reason for the insane junk in our great religious works. I can't help it that truth pisses people off. There is a lot of value in the bible and other works but there is also a lot of obsolete ideas and mistakes.

Obviously because God created man and woman for the purpose of reproduction. When did the last gay man give birth? If a dog suddenly fell in love with your leg, would you not find that disgusting as you were kicking it away from you? I have known gay people. Some were ok, some were just idiots. Trying to be rational with a gay person is always an exercise in futility. How one man can find another man attractive or "sexy" is just disgusting---period.

As a Catholic Christian, I am taught by my faith that our bodies are created in the image and likeness of God. I believe that our sexuality is necessary to teach us, when we are living according to what God has taught us through the words of His Son, that our ability to form a union in which two become one in order to reflect the image of God in His role as Creator. Human bodies are perfectly formed to join in this way making it clear to Christians that God designed them so intentionally. Therefore, our sexuality is seen as a gift God shares with His children in order that we may, "Go forth and multiply". It is for this reason, we are taught that sexuality is meant to be a part of a marital union, with an openness to procreativity, that maintains the qualities of creation, commitment, fidelity, and a self giving love. With that in mind, I maintain that gay people are not different from anyone else. If a gay person, or a straight person performs a sexual act without the benefit of a sacramental marriage, and without the possibility of that act being one in which the love is so real it must be given a name nine months later, it is fundamentally sinful....In other words, Christians should not condemn homosexual sexual acts without considering the sinfulness of heterosexual sexual acts that also omit these qualifications. Also, a homosexual is not sinful just because they are attracted to others of the opposite sex, it is the sexual activity which is sinful....therefore, one may conclude that being a homosexual is not sinful.

I know lots of "gay" people...even down here in 'backward' Georgia. I work with them, play sports with them, live near them, share meals with them.

Your question, like alot of folks in YA, reveals that you do not understand why people go to hell. It's not because they are homosexual, or murder, or steal, or gossip and slander, or back-stab, or commit adultery. Those things are just the symptoms of the problem. We ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Nobody, nobody, nobody can be good enough!! Not the Pope, not Mother Theresa, not Billy Graham....not anybody!
That's why Jesus had to do what he did.

Good question - the bible says that _all_ of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.(Romans 3:23) Not just gay people!

The sacrifice of Christ on the cross is the only hope that any of us have of going to heaven - but it is a strong hope and a great hope, and it doesn't matter who we are or what we have done, God's love calls out to us from the cross with open arms.

Not all Christians treat gays badly. If a REAL Christian thinks gays are sinners then he should forgive as Jesus has instructed. Personally I feel sense they are born that way then they are God's creations.

Some of my family members are homosexuals so I know them very well. They really are no different than anyone else... (well maybe a few quirks...)

In the Christian worldview, there really is no hope without Christ, for both gays and straights.
