Cognitive advancement would be my goal. With knowledge we can protect our planet, heal the sick, and explore our galaxy. Man that would be so cool!

Some people need to believe in something or, anything to give them faith and hope.
Be it a christian god or another spiritully based belief, or even a tree or the moon. Some people need something.
If there were NOTHING for these people to grasp onto, I think there would be a lot more freaked out people and suicide.
Unfortunately, there would be a lot of very lost vacant people.
I am an Athiest.
Politically it would not be that different.
I'd hope more money would be poured into medical research instead of churches.
Yeah, and EVERYONE could get married by law.

First off, life is sacred. No more sacrificing animals to appease some god, that's just cruel and wrong. It's been done by so many religions. Oddly enough Satanists (the REAL ones, thank you) have in their rules "Never harm a child and only kill animals for food" and similarly "Only hurt a person that has done wrong and not apologised or made up for it". I think that everyone agrees with this?
Second, we would have morals because we knew it was right, not because a book told us it was right. Living with ourselves instead of a fear of Hell swallowing us.
The society's goal would probably be peace, rarely do you see an athiest agreeing with war. Most Atheists hate this whole thing with Iraq, so many innocent people are dying.
I think life would be easier--no fighting with people as what to do with my own body, no fighting wars because of religion, and no more people attacking minority groups like Homosexuals or Wiccans because of some book. People would be happier and more free to be what they wanted to be, instead of being forced by ancient beliefs to do what everyone else though was right.
And another thing--research with things such as stem cells would be allowed, advanced, and save millions of lives. Many cures for diseases are seen as immoral, so they are banned. So many more people would be cured of horrible deadly and debilitating diseases.

An atheistic society would have goals not unlike societies dominated by religion. Power, control, money, the usual stuff. People will be people no matter their faith or lack of it.
Societies which have had strong religious sentiment haven't exactly wowed the world with their altruism or their durability. Nor have other societies.

It is a very easy question to answer. The goals would be to make this world a better place for the people who live here. More medical research, better and free health care, education, scientific research or whatever will make life easier and more satisfying

Everything that leads to progress from a humanistic point of view.
Compare administration of Thomas Jefferson to George Bush, to know the difference between an Atheist and a Christian.

Pretty much the same. Less wars on religion and more for other things that people feel passionately about, like what they're going to eat tomorrow.

The same as any other decent society, respect for each other, and trying to advance in areas such as science, technology, and medicine...but no god fairy tales.
