i hate this dentist! so that the whole world will know the scam that they impose on patients - always saying they can't contact the insurance company so you're forced to pay in full, then when you claim for insurance refund they make you wait forever? and sometimes you never get your money back?

I learned that I'm not the only one who was told that this dental clinic can't contact the insurance, among a lot more others. And they don't initiate the call to advise you of a refund. So if you're the forgetful or lazy type, it's frustrating. Does that not count in good dental practice?

Go to the state board for whatever state you reside in...For example, in Texas, it's the TSBDE...Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, I believe.

You should file a complaint against the dentist in order to be sure that the Board is aware of the problem. Far too often, people just change dentists, and the doctor in the wrong continues to practice with no action taken against him/her.

You can e-mail me if you have a problem filing, I can always double-check with my boss. I worked in an office with a bad dentist; I have a "thing" against those who make my job harder or my profession look bad!

A dentist is entitled to receive the fee in full for services rendered, no matter how it's paid-- Through insurance or out of your own pocket. It's only fair. If your insurance plan will not work with that particular dentist, it's not his fault and you have no grounds for a complaint in such a situation.

However, if you had paid for the procedure in full out of your own pocket and the dentist collected additional funds from your insurance carrier for that procedure, then he is obligated to refund you the amount collected from the insurance company within the year of coverage.

So the first thing you need to do is contact your insurance carrier and see if they sent a payment to the dentist for the procedure that you paid in full. If they didn't, then you are indeed obligated to pay out of your own pocket-- That is only fair.

If the insurance company did send a payment to the dentist and you didn't get the refund, then you should 1) ask the dentist for the refund, and if none is forthcoming, 2) file a complaint with the insurance company so they can investigate for insurance fraud.

Hope this helps.

Get a lawyer who handles class action lawsuits. You can sue the dentist in the name of all others who are his victims, and then you give public notice of the case, the others will learn of it and join in it too. Lawyers are eager to get these cases because the defendants who get sued (dentists and their insurance companies) have to pay all the lawyers fees for the victims.

HELLO,
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE PAYMENT POLICIES OF THIS DENTIST UP FRONT GO ELSEWHERE.
YOUR INSURANCE MAY PAY YOU, BUT THIS IS A FINANCIAL POLICY AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE QUALITY OF DENTISTRY GIVEN. YOU CAN'T DO MUCH ABOUT THE $ ALREADY SPENT, BUT YOU CAN FIND A DIFFERENT DENTIST WITH A MORE PLEASANT CHAIR-SIDE MANNER. GOOD LUCK.
