I know some pretend to like us but is it ever really sincere?

Define "Chinese". If you mean an American of Chinese ancestry, your question is a no-brainer.

If you mean a Chinese person from PRC or Taiwan, the answer could be different. I'm a western guy living in Taiwan, and I have observed that "friendship" is a very different concept for Chinese people compared to how North Americans see it.

To us, a friend is a person you like, hang out with, share confidences with, and the like.

Traditional Chinese people view friendship more as a relationship based on favours and obligations.

It's not better or worse, it's just different--and you must understand the differences in order to be friends with a traditional Chinese person.

Yes it can be sincere. I worked with a Chinese woman who did not speak English well and I liked her better than any other person in the building.

When I was in high school, my first love was Chinese. We used to call Japanese and Chinese "Oriental", not Asian. Anyway my boyfriend was of course AMERICAN Chinese. So he was just as normal as anyone in my class off over 700 white, black, yellow, Samoan. Anyway , it was quite a melting pot. It was great, but he was American. Do you mean me being friends with a person who was born in China, but speaks English with an accent? OF COURSE!! That's why they come to America , and can't wait to be citizens!! Isn't one of Angelina's boys (or Madonna's) Asian? When he grows up, he'll be totally Americanized and will very likely marry a white girl. And yes, they sincerely like us. Why shouldn't they? I hope I understood your question correctly. :)

Why not? Just as an American can be friends with a Russian. It is not you as a person that is being hated by anyone unfriendly with America but, it is your country and more precisely your government, that is being loathed and sometimes envied. Anti-American sentiments do not point to the individual in particular but to what America represents. So, what does America represent? It represents a country that is free, rich and strong.

That would depend upon the individual, but of course. You can a sincere friendship with anyone, regardless of their cultural background.

No.
It's impossible for someone from one country to ever be friends with, care about or even tolerate another human from any country other than thier own.Even from the same city or neighborhood...not possible....at least on your planet.
