Personally, I don't think so, but nobody actually knows. There are two things that I've heard of on the news and wherever that are suspected to be wrong with drinking diet soda:
1) The artificial sweeteners used in it (like aspartame) are believed to cause cancer. There have been some scientific studies that have proved this with evidence. On the other hand, I have also heard some studies (more recent ones, too I think) that have disproved the link between sweeteners and cancer. I think scientists currently more widely believe that there is no link, but that wasn't always the case.
2) Something I heard in the news only a few months ago is that something in diet soda, I believe also having to do with the artificial sweetener, actually makes you GAIN weight. What it does is somehow make your body not realize that it's taking in calories, so your body eats more when its not hungry. I know that sounds pretty whack, and I wish I could find the article I read so I could give you a link or something, but I really did read it somewhere.
Of course though, both of those things are just theories, and nothing has been proven. So it's perfectly likely that diet soda is ok. But on the other hand, there's a good chance it's not ok. The fact that you're putting inorganic substances (the sweeteners) into your body is cause for caution, I think. I feel like since they're not natural, there's a good chance theres something we don't know about that's in them thats bad for us. But that's just my opinion. And personally, I don't like the taste of diet soda and I like water, so it's not that big of a deal to not drink diet soda anyway. If you really wanna drink it, you're taking a risk that theres something bad in the soda, but its not a huge risk, so that's your choice.

I gave up all soda or carbonated beverages and anything that contains aspartame. I no longer have times of not feeling so well, or toxic.
Do you know that it takes 30 - 8oz. glasses of water to flush one can of diet soda's chemicals from the human body?

Yes and you can have 0 calorie on it so no worry
The sugar is a problem Phenophaylene ...It is good but bland and at a time taste toxic...Go for the Crystal Lite and Teas all natural Snapple and you will get the sugar rush and low calorie too...It is a matter of the mind and taste...being overweight it is the taste and the texture of chewing and sometimes someting to reward yourself for missing something...Don't tell Try the diet diabetic candy and sweeteners...at times even if you are not diabetic...low sugar rush is the key Keep hard candy on hand and drink lots of water and chew lots of sugarless gum that does not stick to your teeth...

I've been drinking 2 to 4 liters of diet mountain dew per day for at least 15 years.
I am constantly wired from the caffeine, but other than that, no harm.

Diet soda is better than the full sugar kind.
However, do consider that carbonated beverages, as well as those who have caffine, will slow down weight loss.
If your goal is weight loss, better to drink water, it will help flush away toxins as your body burns fat.
Good luck!

No, the artificial sweeteners in it cause cancer.
It can also lead you to gain weight, a study shows.
http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20050613/drink-more-diet-soda-gain-more-weight
"If you are using aspartame ... and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss - you probably have aspartame disease."
to randy C - no it is not better than regular soda.
Well... I guess you can decide whether you would prefer cancer or diabetes. =P

If you mean, is it healthy, not really. It's not as bad as regular soda, but it's better to just drink juice or water.
