almost everyone's testimony sounds the same "I know, I know, I know" or the very least "I believe" . Is this what they taught you to say? This isn't exactly what my idea of testimony is.....

almost sounds like what we used to say in the Methodist church in unison...

I believe in the holy catholic church in the death and ressurection of the body. Isn't that some kind of creed? I think I'm rambling...Do you get what I'm saying?

It depends what topic they need guidance on. My personal favorite part of my testimony is about: the word of wisdom. When my husband and I were investigating the church, we had a meeting with the missionaries and the topic was the word of wisdom. We decided that, since the Book of Mormon was translated by a prophet, the Doctrine and Covenants must also be true, so we better follow this Word of Wisdom. After the meeting, we went out for dinner at a restaurant. My husband thought, one more glass of wine to commemorate wouldn't hurt, so he bought one. Then the check came when we were done, and we had been mistakenly charged for the whole bottle! So we told the waitress, who happily went to fix it. When she went to the computer to edit the bill, the system froze up. We had to wait for it to get back up, and the bill to be changed. Although we enjoyed a dessert on the house for our trouble, the whole mess took 45 minutes to repair. We laughed about ir as a sign from God and now are devoted members of the church and followers of the word of wisdom.

I know that praying to know if it is true, and feeling the spirit are just physiological tricks people fall for while in the right state of mind.

I know the conformity in Utah goes along ways in causing, keeping, and deepening brainwash.

While I am highly critical of historians and scientists that present evidence against the church, I am quick to accept what “evidences” LDS apologists have come up with. I put the up most faith in these “semi scientists” that are paid and under threat of excommunication to make the science fit. I know that Joseph Smiths translations have been practically proven a fraud, and the Facsimiles of the Book of Abraham are a simple funerary text.

I know Joseph Smith was a good, hard working honest man, despite his occasional drinks, and habit of sending husbands off on missions so he could secretly marry there wives and teenage daughters, and ended his days in a gun battle at Carthage Jail. I know Joseph Smith was hermetic, superstitious, and Gnostic, and had a 19th century magical Mindset, and the influences for his idea Mormonism were many.

I also know that none of witnesses to the Golden Plates ever saw them with there physical eyes, only there spiritual, as they all admitted to at some point or another.

I know that president Hinckley is a prophet of God, even though he has already admitted that he doesn’t see God or angels with his physical eyes, and goes by his feelings and hunches just like you and me.

It is a Miracle! The intense growth of this now 12 million peopled church of which only 4-6 million are active.

These things I say Amen.

Jesus Christ is the Savior of us all. He lived for us, teaching the Gospel. He died for us, on the cross, atoning for our sins. He lived again, teaching us that the resurrection is real. God the Father and Jesus Christ called Joseph Smith to restore His church to earth in the 1820s/30s. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon---a true record of a people who were visited by Christ that teaches us more fully about Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that Christ restored through Joseph Smith. Gordon B. Hinckley is God's prophet for the earth today.

I believe Jesus Christ paid the price for sin and I can follow Christ and be forgiven of all of my sins. I believe the Bible, Book of Mormon, D&C, and Pearl of Great Price to be the word of God. I believe that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet and that he saw God and Jesus Christ in 1820. I believe that Joseph was given authority to baptize and give the gift of the Holy Ghost (not unlike the time of pentacost). I believe that this authority (as well as other authorities) still exist in the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. There is a prophet today -- Gordon B. Hinkley. Jesus Christ leads the LDS church now through revelation. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ.

This is what I believe; I believe it for myself, no one gave it to me or told me what to believe; I claim my testimony comes straight from God and no other -- I can give you no more proof than my witness I have given above.

Please respect my testimony

I know the church is true. That Joseph Smith restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth in these latter-days. I know that Gordon B Hinkley is a prophet of God. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know that through the Spirit of God you can know that these things are true as well. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

What DO you want to hear?

And, yes, as a former Methodist, that was one of the creeds. The Apostles creed was the one we usually did the most.
