I live in New York in a high rise apartment building on the 35th floor. I was standing by the window and my husband snuck up behind me and grabbed my waste and scared me so bad my top denture flew out of my mouth and landed on the roof of the building next door! I am so upset that I don't want to go anywhere and I can't afford to get new ones at this moment because I just had a baby. What can I do? I know they are there because we can see them with binnoculars!

I'm sorry for what happened. I'm sure you put "waste" in instead of "waist" because you were so bloody upset and didn't notice when spell check missed it. It's totally understandable. I'm sure you're not that old as well. Perhaps you have them because you had an accident. America has one of the worst health care programs around. Let alone no dental care whatsoever. Our government's idea of dental care coverage is to rip all your teeth out and give you dentures. Probably bad dentures. A person in New York can be making $35,000 a year, for example, and still be impoverished and in debt after paying their 75% of income to rent. Regardless, you sound as if you're doing wonderful and I for one would never go out of my way to say otherwise.

The others are right. You, or your husband, since it's totally understandable you don't want to go out, should go next door first thing in the morning and get the super/building manager. If they refuse to help, get a cop. Explain what happened. They'll be in disbelief, but they'll probably take you to the roof just to see that it really happened!

What a lame question! Why would one even ask that? Of course people kiss with dentures/ No big deal. The hard part of about getting dentures is AFTER the fact. Of course your are sedated and nothing is going to hurt. Later getting used to your natural teeth being gone and the feeling of this new" foreign" object in your mouth would be the hard part .

Right now (or 1st thing in the a.m.)- go to the building in question and find the super or manager. Even if you have to call a phone number and get them down there. Ask people that you see going in or out if you have to. Just tell them you dropped "Something"...You need to do it immediately before it rains or something happens. Call the building owner if you need to to get a referrel re a manager or super.

If you can, you should tip the person that takes you up to the roof.

Frankly, if need be, get a cop. You'll have to tell him the whole story, but he/she should get you up there. Don't wait too long.

I live in NYC, too, so really, these are the things that I would do.

Go get it! it's not a big deal, just don't open your mouth, tell a friend or someone to assist you. Not a big deal, just say that the dentures accidently slipped out on the roof and you wanted to get it. best of luck!

HELLO,
I'M SORRY THAT THIS HAPPENED. HOPEFULLY WHEN THE DENTURE HIT THE ROOF NOTHING BROKE. IF IT DID THERE ARE SOME DENTISTS THAT HAVE DENTAL LABS IN THEIR OFFICE THAT CAN REPAIR IT THE SAME DAY.
HAVE THE BUILDING SUPER OR THE NYFD HELP YOU TO GET THEM BACK.
SURELY YOUR HUBBY LEARNED A LESSON BY ALL THIS.

get your husband to go over there and speak with someone in maintenance. Surely, someone will help you. How many people are going to walk in there with such a request ? But, I would imagine, that either security or maintenance would help you.

I seriously hope this is a joke...a woman old enough to have dentures has recently had a baby, yet still cannot spell "waist'...and when is scared, jumps so hard that her dentures are given enough momentum to zoom to another building...

I love this question!
