Technically the US law is you have to be at least 18 to marry, however there are states that create loopholes to a rather good idea. However, I personally would discourage someone under the age of 25 to marry. But in the state of VA to my understanding, age 16 is considered the age of consent but I've heard of states that have 14 or 15 as age of consent. A cousin of mine who spent time in Florida and moved back made a joke about you can give legal consent to a 12-year-old down there. I don't know if that's true, but I don't think it should be legal for anyone under 18 in any state or commonwealth to marry. Not even in the case of a pregnant teen.

I don't think that in this day an age a person should be allowed to get married before 25.
I just don't think that you have a true understanding of who you are until after college and working in the real world for a while. My husband and I got together when I was 32 and he often said that he wished we had gotten together 10 yrs earlier and I believe that I would never have stayed with him for more than 3-4 months at that age.

Well personally I don't think that people under 18 make very good choices and they don't really know who they love, but I still think that it should be leagal without parental concent to get married under the age of 18 because it it their lives and I don't think the government should interfere.

Age of marriage should be the same as the age of legal consent for sex. Either "legal consent" age needs to be raised to 18, or marriage age needs to be lowered, in most US states.

Parents' consent should be good enough. Or a judge's consent.
