Is it a sensation deep in your gut? Is it a re-ocurring thought or is it an actual voice....like the message is heard deep in your head. Sounds a bit crazy, but seriously I am confused because the bible talks about how we should "listen" to God and how he speaks to our hearts...well how? How do I even begin to know what God's answer to my questions are? *sigh* And how can you know what his promises are for your life, aside from the ones in the bible?
This is important to me and I only need serious answers. If you feel like joking around then please find someone else to mess with...I need some clarity.

I am not joking when I say "all of the above" - although I have never heard an actual voice, I have experienced the others. Listening to God involves being quiet - not just our mouths but also our minds. His promises are all in the Bible - a study Bible, especially the New Living Translation (NLT) will help you to find those promises.

Believe it or not, I know that God is so glad you are asking these questions - it shows just how serious you are about living the life He has for you.

Now for a little practicality - pray to do the things he wants you to do each day - BEFORE you get out of bed. You can spare a couple of early morning minutes to pray. And praying is just talking to Him - you can leave out all the "thee's and thou's" and all the other fancy language. Just talk to Him. When you are doing what you know is RIGHT you are doing His will. If you wonder if you are doing the right thing, or if you have to justify your actions - you need to take another look at your motives. Selfishness is never His will - but taking care of yourself is!

Remember that taking the opportunities that come your way may well be God talking to you. Will you make mistakes, of course - you aren't perfect, but God is. He'll take any mistakes you make and turn them to good - He'll turn them into a lesson for you and quite possibly a way to help someone else.

Romans 8:28 says: "..and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them."

May God bless you as you continue to seek His will for your life. If you don't go to church, I hope you will consider starting and one of the best places for this kind of discussion is the Sunday School class for your age (even if you are an adult!)

God Has Spoken To Me

you can't really know what his promises are for your life. you have to learn & develop your ability to discern what is of the holy spirit and what isn't. if i have something i want God to tell me, i do this...first i will connect with Him in prayer & meditation, i will tell Him what's on my mind, and ask for an answer. i know he has spoken to my heart when i just have a sense of knowing, a sense of "at home-ness." like i can feel the holy spirit very strongly. i never hear an actual voice or have a recurring thought. i do have a certain feeling, though. it's difficult to describe, but i hope this helps a little.

God has spoken to me before aswell, It felt like.... a deep sensation in your heart and gut. It happens so quickly, like in a split second, but you here every word just as slow. Don't be confuced, if God has spoken to you, you will know it, and it will be something nobel.

Rejoice, God has spoken to you for a reason. But be carefull, for even the Devil himself come in clothes of wight and a halo over his head.

God Bless You,
Josh

I believe when God talks to you , it's just as you said "he speaks to your heart". Sounds simplistic to some, I know. Not so much with words, but you know just what He's saying. There's a peace and assurance when it happens. Just keep on seeking and listening and you will hear. Good luck and God bless!!

I could really describe god in action in my heart is when I feel a 180 coming on.
Its like one day Im happy go lucky and then all of the sudden for no reason my heart is uneasy about something then the answer comes afterward on why my heart changed.
Its funny but my brain knows nothing of what changes my heart, then that is when I
know its god in action about something.
It seems like god controls the attitude rather than the brain.

Hello!
If you ever "Hear" anything and it Goes AGAINST what the Bible says, it AIN'T GOD.

Now, most of the Time, when you start Thinking about doing something, and you feel alittle Weird in your Spirit (Heart), rethink it over untill you Feel PEACE inside!!!
Thats what I do.
Let PEACE be your Umpire.

The Holy Spirit lives inside of you (a spirit living in a body) and HE can affect your Feelings through your spirit.

Other than that, which I use all of the Time, GOD can give you Visions, Dreams, send People across your Path so on.

If your Really serious about following GOD in your Life, there are some real good Teaching C.D.'s out there (Christian) that can really help you.
Too much to Learn for a short answer on here.
Kenneth Copeland, Gloria Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, have ministry's that sell these C.D.'s.
Hope this helps!

Ditto............don't forget Jesse Duplantis and his Wife too!!! Very Good Teachings

I think sometimes God or the Holy Spirit does "speak" through those recurring thoughts or ideas, like a holy nudge. One of the first things I think we must do, is measure what we are hearing by Biblical, traditional, community standards, even rational standards. For example, if I believe God is calling me to move to the hills and get myself 10 husbands, that's not going to match up with most of those standards. If every time I see a homeless teen-ager I feel compelled to help, or feel outraged, or filled with compassion, then I could very well see that as God. hope that helps>

It is in different ways
sometimes a feelings that doesn't go away, then you find the same thing in the word, that confirms it
sometimes a thought that just comes from no where
you say where did that come from
most aways a word from God will be his word
or you can say Jesus show me now, and he will
maybe a dream or vision, or a voice that sounds like a still small voice inside you, it will not be on the outside, God is on the inside of you
be open to him and all his ways
the word will speak to you and you can say now Lord confirm this to me and he will

From my personal experience, my conscience is the closest reflection of God's voice that I am able to understand. I don't know if others have a different experience when they believe He speaks to them, but when I listen to my heart, it is the same to me as listening to my moral conscience. While not all situations are black and white, the conscience provides a fairly strong idea of where your decisions should be headed.

God speaks in a variety of ways, but most often I think He speaks through His word. He also speaks to our hearts. It takes practice to learn to recognize His voice, but you will learn. God also speaks through others, such as Pastors, teachers or friends. God gives guidance by opening doors or closing them. Sometimes when answers don't come..God is saying "wait". Be patient..He is working it all out. Hope this helps.
