I'm 13 and I'm already freaked out about aging. Everyone is telling me that you may have a good body one day but it all gets wrinkley and saggy at some point. I think what freaks me out the most is that my skin won't look nice anymore. I feel like I'm being superficial but I can't help it. I also hate the fact that your back slumps, you forget, people get annoyed with you, and people treat you like your old. Do you think I need counciling? Is this some type of phobia?

When you get busy with your life, fall in love FOR REAL with someone who doesn't see the aging part, and start seeing the more important things of life, your phobia will drop away.

I think that it's a phase right now and that you'll get over it, you have SO long before that happens, and it's even nice to you when it does, because it comes in stages. How sweet. You're thirteen, you have a good 30 years left before the littlest wrinkle comes in, if you don't tan and such. You don't need counseling, but if you still have this intense fear say, 10 years from now after you've been with the feeling for a while and have eased into seeing older people, it may be a phobia. I'm not sure, I just live my life for the moment. Live for today, don't hold back because you fear tomorrow. You'll have so much more fun not thinking about it than how far you'll get dwelling on it. It's not going to go away if you think more about it, so why worry yourself?

Have a good life! :)

Yea, counseling may not be a bad idea. There are many people who exercise and eat right. They take care of themselves. They are older, in age and they look and feel great. They could run circles around us both. It probably is a type of phobia. Ask your counselor, when you get one.
