It sounds like she's probably just looking for attention, though there are some cases where something wouldn't be treated. For instance, a brain tumor, depending on where it is - they might just keep an eye on it to see if it's growing or if your symptoms are changing. In a case like that, though, most people would just say they have a brain tumor, not cancer.

I think your friend is totally BSing you. Either that or her doctor is a moron. Cancer, no matter what stage it's in, can almost always benefit from treatment, even if it's just pain management. If you want to find out if your friend is telling the truth, ask her exactly what kind of cancer she has and ask her what kind of symptoms she had. Then just look up whatever she said on Wikipedia or WebMD. $20 says that whatever type of cancer she says she has doesn't jive with the symptoms she gives.

Hmm..are you sure she didn't say pre-cancerous cells? Maybe something like Atypical Squamous Cells? Is it perhaps what she was told after a pap smear result? If any of those things sound about right, then the doctor was correct. Pre-cancerous cells have a way of resolving on their own.

That can't possibly be correct. Either you aren't getting correct information from her or she is misunderstanding the doctor. Tell her to call the doctor and get a better explanation.
