I think you mean HPV, and they are very different. They are two different viruses, which have very different effects on the system. As most people know, HIV destroys the immune system (by reducing the T cells). HPV is one of the causes cervical cancer. About the only similarity is that they are both viruses and are both sexually transmitted.

HIV (Human Immunodeficiancy Virus), the precursor to AIDS is a disease that attacks the human immune system and can cause lots of secondary infections as well as the break down of body systems. As far as being a sexually transmitted disease, HIV can be avoided for the most part by using a condom.

HPV (human papillomavirus)is the virus that causes herpes and genital warts. It is also spread by body fluids, however it cannot always be avoided by wearing a condom. It can also cause cervical cancer in women.
