(Note: I'm not an LDS/Mormon and I believe they are following a false gospel/truth, but I still love them much.) As with any belief system, whether religious or not, you'll get different answers depending on the individual. As for what the Mormon/LDS (Latter Day Saints) church in Salt Lake City officially teaches (there are other LDS variants as well), here are a few points that DIFFER from mainstream Christianity:

- God the Father is completely separate in nature/essence and personhood from God the Son and the Holy Ghost (Spirit). This is different than the orthodox concept of the Triune/Trinitarian Godhead.

- We were all "spirit children" in the Pre-existence (the period of time before Creation of our universe).

- Jesus was the first born of these same "spirit children", and Satan was the second. Ergo, Jesus and Satan are our older spirit-brothers.

- Jesus and Satan both had plans for salvation, but God the Father selected Jesus' plan. So Satan rebelled.

- God the Father lives on a planet called Kolob and by sexual-intercourse with his wife (called "Heavenly Mother"), all of us "spirit children" were produced.

- Through faith in Jesus Christ, baptism in an LDS Temple, a temple-sealed marriage, and other correct practices, men will become gods of their own planets after the Resurrection, along with their wives and children.

- The purpose of Jesus and the plan of salvation is exaltation of Man (becoming perfect and becoming god), not just the worship and exaltation of our God.

- God the Father went through this same process of progression/exaltation on his own "earth" which had a god as well, who also went through this same process with their own god, etc. etc.

- Authority to administer certain rites are given to men with the priesthood (all males in the LDS church have this "Aaronic Priesthood" level). A higher level called the "Melchizedek Priesthood" is required for those that will serve a mission.

- The president of the LDS church is a living prophet that can have revelations from God the Father that change church doctrine. Two main ones in the history of the LDS church being the forbidding of polygamy and the allowing of blacks (American or otherwise), to attain priesthood.

- There was a Great Apostasy within a few hundred years after Jesus' time on earth, and the true church wasn't restored until Joseph Smith in 1829. This means that all other churches are an abomination to God and only the LDS/Mormon church is the one true church.

- Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and "translated" the writings of the angels Mormon and his son Meroni into what is now called, "The Book of Mormon".

- An Israelite name Lehi took his family from the Middle East to the Americas around 600 B.C.

- Lehi, along with his family (sons Nephi and Laman) founded a new civilization in the Americas (they landed in what is now Central America). After enough generations, there were two peoples, the Nephites and the Lamanites. The Lamanites were cursed with dark skin and are today's Native Americans (meaning Native Americans are descended from Israelites). The Nephites and Lamanites fought and eventually the Lamanites pretty much wiped out the Nephites. Mormon and Meroni were Nephites that recorded their story on gold plates in a language called "Reformed Egyptian". Meroni fled/wandered until he reached what is now New York and buried these gold plates in 421 A.D.

- Joseph Smith was directed by Meroni to the burial site of these Gold Plates, dug them up, and "translated" them into English.

- The Bible is correct if correctly translated, but because of the Great Apostasy, we didn't have a good Translation until Joseph Smith's version (he used the King James Version but edited it a little bit and added to it).

There are more, but that's a good start.

L.D.S. or Mormon or the church of Jesus Christ if Latter day saints all one and the same. They believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers and God did not like Satan’s plan, but like Jesus plan. Jesus to the Mormons died so they could pray to him for forgiveness, oh and died on the cross, but that’s about it, that won't get them into heaven because their theology has paganism and freemasonry in it besides their claim of Christianity. They claim to be the church from Jewish days and they had many wives in the O.T. days so hence they believe in polygamy. But god did not create Adam and eve and denice and Stacey ect. Anyways. They are prejudice because they believe in preexistence and they think that a lot of people went with satins plan (black people) and some kind of went with Jesus and Satan (lighter skin people) and those that went with Jesus (whites). They believe that Mary was married to God, so that’s what happened when the holy ghost came over here...they did it. This is a higher form of their theology, one that is only taught in the temple, so their are two theologies going on, the one that nontemple Mormon’s know about and the one that temple Mormons know about. ect.

In a nutshell:
That men may become gods.
Men must enter into plurality of wives to become said gods, but since 1890 all but one must be dead.
Jews came to America 400BC and created an civilization that numbered millions.
Babylonian Tower builders came to America 2200BC.
Both built ships for transoceanic voyages.
Nothing remains of either civilization as told in the Book of Mormon, but we like to identify the Maya, Aztecs and Olmecs as "remnants".
Jesus came to America in 33AD and taught basic mormonism.
Women get to be pregnant forever, but cannot be church leaders.
Your skin color changes according to your belief or lifestyle.
Blacks were considered Satan's agents on earth could not be priesthood holders until 1978.
You can baptize dead people into the church like Hitler and Stalin and Einstein.
The current prophet opinion/prophecy overwrites previous opinion/prophecy so no more laws are broken.
You're sinful if you murder or rape someone, or drink coffee.
Gays and lesbians are sinful ungodly people that we don’t ever want to live next to.
Joseph Smith’s first vision was either Moroni, Nephi, God or Jesus or angels - and, he was either twelve or fourteen or sixteen at the time.

they only think of they know. How could desire to a non-member fairly know extra some faith's doctrines than a member? I pretty doubt that maximum non-individuals spend any large volume of time reading our doctrines. maximum of them in simple terms parrot what they examine on line, that's questionable interior the 1st place. do no longer hardship approximately it a lot. those with straight forward sense will a minimum of evaluate what somewhat individuals declare. those desperate to be ignorant can't be reached besides. permit the trolls feed one yet another and in simple terms get on with your very own existence.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints beleive in these things:
1 We believe in bGod, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by eimmersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, rophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that cZion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to gendure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

www.mormon.org is your best bet. Or go to your local library and look for some books on the subject. Religions are hard to summarize.
