Even as an adult, I still have these. When I was a kid, a lion lived in a cage in someone's yard at the end of our street. These are still horrific nightmares, and was wondering what they mean now.

The lion (and there's almost always only one) is always loose. It is either chasing me or following me, but there's no attack. I had another one last night, this one was at the grocery store. My husband and I were arguing over buying things, due to the cost, and my dog was there as well.

To see a lion in your dream, symbolizes great strength, aggression and power. You will overcome your emotions and/or difficulties. As king of the jungle, the lion also represents royalty, leadership, pride and dominion. You have much influence over others. You may also need to exercise restraint in your own personal and social life. To dream that you are attacked by a lion, indicates that you have many obstacles to overcome. You must resist the force that is driving you to self-destruction.
To see a neat and well-kept yard, reflects your ability to maintain and organize aspects of your outside life, such as work and your social activities. To see a messy and un-kept yard, denotes that aspects of your life are out of your control.

It depends. A lion locked up in a cage represents a trial or testing by fire if you have to go inside that cage with the lion. Or, if the lion is let loose it means tragedy or terror is let loose. It depends on what else you saw in the dream.
