My husband is a WONDERFUL father.
he helps all the time and changes more
diapers then me I believe haha. He feels
that makes it more fair since I breastfeed
our youngest and he can't help with that
so he helps feed our daughter when hes
home and able to and he changes diapers.
Our friends (the males) who have children
sometimes make comments that hes a
pu**y but it's ridiculous because the man
HELPED make the baby so he should HELP
raise the baby. some of our male friends say
things like "diapers and children are a womans
thing" and that makes me SO angry. I think
if your helping your wife care for your child
dont listen to what anyone tells you, your doing
everything PERFECT!! keep up the good work!

I suppose because there is a long tradition of one primary care giver, and one disinterested parent :) Plus, many Dads feel intimidated that they might not be a good father, or a good role model as a man, to their children. I highly recommend "Man Enough" - it discusses a lot of the pressures men are under, especially as relating to women and to their children.

I could be wrong but I think that in a lot of cases that men either don't know how to help or are too scared themselves to help. I know from my own experience right now that it would be great and wonderful to have a my guy beside me. Or at least some kind of support that wasn't my female friends or my family offering to go to doctors appointments and other classes with me.

Great question! Our kids are MY kids! That really gets old, fast! My husband supports our children financially but everything else is MY responsibility! He does work an early shift and does need to go to bed early, but that cannot be the excuse ALL of the time.

I don't know but its a good question. I'm a mom to be and if he doesnt help he doesnt get to sleep in the bed or in the room is all I have to say. They had a part in making it and they need to do something to make up for the woman having to carry the baby for 9 months and be in pain the whole time AND go through the pain of birthing her. It's pretty screwed up to me, we need a break too.

I really don't know why! I am very grateful I have a wonderful husband who is very into helping me take care of our children! I think alot of it is lazyness and selfcenterness...

I have no clue my husband loves helping out with our son. He loves being a dad more than anything. They are just stupid and don't know what they are missing out on and will regret it someday.

good question. fortunately, my dh isn't one of them.

my guess is that they're a little "old fashioned" in their thinking. June Cleaver household. or they're too afraid they won't be a good father. they might not have had a good role model growing up so they're unsure of their own parenting abilities.
