I have three female cousins, we all share the same last name, and we live in a small town. One just turned 16 and she got pregnant, and the other two are now working at a strip club as strippers. I have people who come up to my father and friends, thinking that I am them, just because I have the same last name.

What should I do to differentiate myself from these girls?

Also, my Dad has people coming up to him asking how the baby is doing or if I'm working the clubs tonight (they seem to be confusing us). What should I do?? I need to protect my reputation, but I dont want to change my last name!

it's a shame you have to do anything but i see your point. make yourself stand out from the crowd. do charity work. voulnteer to help the elderly in your town. they're the ones that gossip the most so it'll get around that your a good person. make a name for yourself by doing the right thing. there will be no mistaking you for them anymore. who knows, you may find your calling.

In the old days when something like this happen, or a son or daughter had a falling out with their parents or siblings, they would change a letter or two in their family name. For instance myerson would become mierson. The other extreme is moving to another town where your tawdry reputation won't follow you. Joke.

As long as you behave yourself and keep your reputation very clean, I think you're already doing what you can do.
Word gets around quickly in a small town. Pretty soon everyone will know you're not the least bit like your cousins.

its sad that u have to differentiate from your cousins, but u do have a valid point
try to do charity work, volunteer work, get a job someplace else, like the local supermarket or a store so then the town will know that u have a different job
hope this helped

I think it's sad that you're more interested in protecting your reputation than feeling love for your cousin's, in spite of their lives and personal choices.

Honestly, it makes no difference if you share a last name. Unrelated people share last names too. If you don't hang out with or associate with your cousins, no one will know. And if they do find out, who cares?
