Can I send an e-mail to a fax machine?

I run a lap top and have cable internet. I need to send a fax to my friend at his hotel in D.C. is this possible

I know its possible, my brother does it lall the time. We were just talking about it Sunday, but I cant remember for the life of me what the service was. Sorry.
