They are in that sense of rebellion and they are being deceived by the devil because he is just that devious, and people are just that foolish.

For me it's because I do not see the bible as anything more than a fairy tale..

Do I believe Cinderella had a fairy godmother and went to the ball in a carriage made from a pumpkin.. No

Do I believe in Ariel the mermaid and her deal with the sea witch? No..

Do I believe Rapunzel was locked in a tower by a witch and a prince climbed up her hair to save her? No...

Do I be;ieve Little Red Riding Hood would be eaten by the big bad wolf if she left the path? No...

The stories in the bible just like other fairy tales are imaginative cautionary tales designed to scare the masses into compliance making it easier to rule over and control them.

Men wrote and write fairy tales in order to control other men.. Just as the books in the bible were written as a means for men to control men.. In the bible an all knowing all powerful deity is used to scare people into compliance rather than a big bad wolf, a witch or a really mean step-parent..

Sorry to disappoint you a bunch of stories in a fairy tale book don't scare me from by core belief that no deity exists, ever existed or will ever exist..

Nice try you win a year supply of turtle wax and a turtle to wax.. Thank you for playing "Same Argument Different Day."

Wow.

I turned my 'puter on for *this?*

I'm a heathen, not an atheist, but . . . I don't really care what the book of *your* religion says about people who don't believe in *your* religion, either, since, well, it's *your* book and *your* religion, NOT *my* book or *my* religion. I know you people find some strange comfort in thinking you're the ONLY ones with "The Truth™" but . . . were you aware that Fundamentalism---which includes precepts like the inerrancy and literal truth of scripture and so forth---didn't arise within your own faith until early in the 20th century?

Even if you count from our "Reawakening" rather than our ancestral foundations, heathenry's been around hundreds of years longer than you.

Jesus Fan, you just don't quite understand do you? So I'll explain it in small words so that you WILL.

Atheists do NOT believe in a God. Atheists do NOT believe in a religion. Atheists do NOT read the Bible. If they DO read the Bible, it's for the STORY and not for the religious scripture or the religious viewpoints. In either event, atheists do NOT believe that the Bible is the WORD of God for, in their minds, God does not exist.

Do you understand now?

Of COURSE the scriptures would say that. They were written by the people who INVENTED the religion. They want people to believe what they tell them to believe, so they threaten and insult those who don't buy into their nonsense. It's the same mentality as a four-year-old child, who, when they're caught telling a lie, calls the person who caught them a "poopie-head." (And the four-year-old child probably has more education.)

Because the scriptures are foolish.

I think Pascal kind of covered that as an object lesson of a bad example. I mean, WHICH religion is the right one? It's like, choose what's behind doors numbered 1 to 800. Um, I'll take door number 324 - "Sun Worship" - for eternal bliss, Alex.

(BUZZER SOUNDS)

Oh, sorry, you chose wrong. Well, let's see what we've got in store for you. Get ready, but don't dress really warm, for your eternal trip to HELL! Ahahahahhahaa.

they dont believe in the bible, so they dont believe
their foolish. God has given them a depraved mind because they have refused to believe. Faith is a very important factor. ppl are to busy wanting explanation, then to just believe.

Because they actually have a mind of their own and don't need scriptures or other really old books to tell them how they need to live their lives.

Why do you continue to believe even though there are countless people and books out there, scientific theories and even other faiths that totally disagree with you?

Good grief, this is your first day here, correct?

We think that the bible is an ancient collection of dusty myths. We choose to read and learn from somewhat more up to date sources of knowledge.
