Pinky showed the G chord wrong. It should be 32OOO3 because the 4th, the 3rd, and the 2nd strings should be played open. The letter X on a string means do not play it.

Watching a video does not make a beginner a good player. It takes a lot of time and practice to excel at the instrument. If you are in such a hurry to learn and play well within a few weeks you are not being realistic--unless you are a guitar genius.

I am self-taught, but had received tips on playing rhythm and to hold some chords a certain way. That was in August 1956 and I'm still learning.

Madison, your best option is to purchase a Hal Leonard Guitar Chord Book #1. In it are instructions to tune and hold the guitar, form chords, and learn basic music theory. If you insist upon teaching yourself then start at page one and slowly go through every exercise until you have it down pat.

I'm a bit confused at the term 'guitar tabs.' Don't you mean guitar chords? Tabs, or tablature, is another method of playing by finger positionings on the strings.

Good luck with your experience in learning to play guitar.

Tabs start with zero which is playing an open string and then go up with each fret. If you need help reading guitar tabs try http://guitar.about.com/library/blhowtoreadtab.htm this website. If you are interested in learning how to read music i suggest you consult a music teacher for help as it can be very hard.

You need to play guitar in a few weeks !!!!!!! Do you know how long it took most of us to learn how to play ! You don't learn guitar in even a few months, years is more like it, unless your a musical genius or have a photogenic mind. You need to know more then |0| |0| |0| down where you play with the pick, I think your in trouble. I know what your trying to say even though you not explaining it correctly, but it would take at least two hours here to explain it all to you. If you have to do this in a few weeks you better get a teacher to come and live with you and study 24 -7 in order to play in front of people, and I don't think that will work either, I don't know one person who learned guitar in a few weeks. When people attempt this when they don't know what their doing it spells nothing but trouble.......oh my, your going to attempt this and get up there and forget everything because you don't know well enough what your doing, most people who play guitar in front of people can play these pieces in their sleep. If you do this, because of nerves, your going to forget everything. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes !!!!!!!!

What you are trying to read is tablature, which is the predecessor to modern notation. The only thing it tells you, is where to put the fingers on your left hand, down on the string. If for instance, you see a 3 on the sixth line, that means that you put your finger on the third fret of the sixth string. There is a modern version of tablature that adds a stem to the number. This gives you slightly more information, but is still not as useful as plain notation.

A note tells you when you put your finger down, how long to leave it there, and what to do with it while it's pressing against the string. I put some links below, to sites that will help you get started. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout and I'll do what I can.

A good rule of thumb for strumming is to start with a down stroke (use the fingernails if you don't have a plectrum ) and return with an upstroke. (using your thumb-nail only. You can tear your nails if you pull up with them)

Start with quarter notes (think of walking four steps to clear each square in a sidewalk) Down, up, down, up / Down, up, down , up /

When you are comfortable with that, try eighth notes (Pretend you have a child along with you and the child has to take eight steps to your four, and run to keep up!) Down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up / Down, up, Down, up, Down, Up, Down, Up /

When you are comfortable with that, change back and forth until you find a combination of rhythms that pleases you

D - d, u, d, u, d, u 1 - 2 + 3 + 4 +

One is a quarter noter, anything with an + after it, is an eighth note.

d, U - u, d, u, d, u 1 + - + 3 + 4 +

One And, And Three and Four And

Those are just a couple of rhythms you may have heard. Hope this makes things a little bit clearer. If not, you knwo where I am.

large track I attempt to no longer have enemies, yet in existence there is the two good and undesirable and we are able to basically anticipate the comparable from human beings. the only animosity I carry in the direction of every physique could be my former ultimate chum who used to exploit my friendship. I hate that the main. :-[
