In some of his comics he talks about crazy conspiracies involving the Roman Catholic church and rock music and all kinds of stuff. I know a lot of its far fetched but there has go to be a few things stated in there that are based off of some kind of truth. Maybe. He talks about the Catholic church having a hand in establishing the Muslim faith. Rock music beats being based off of English Druid occultic drum beats. The Jesuit order practicing an ancient form of Baal worship in secret. Or how the Vatican has documents hidden away that indicate the church was involved in many different historical events like the assassination of Abraham Lincoln or the Holocaust.

Chick tracts aim to move people on a purely emotional level. They use scare tactics and disinformation. If one wants to brainwash or terrify people into becoming or remaining Christians, then they are the propaganda to use. If one thinks that Christianity ought to be above such tactics and stands for truth, then one should avoid being associated with these tracts and the ideas they propagate, and instead recommend books by Biblical scholars, historians, and other well-informed individuals who actually know something about these matters and actually can cite evidence to back up their claims that actually exists.

Valid? Not at all. Chick's conspiracy theories are insane, and much of his anti-Catholic material has been disproven. Some of Chick's sources, such as the "priest" Alberto Rivera, have been proven to be frauds. His statements on Freemasonry are downright bizarre, and without foundation.

This quote from Wikipedia is about Chick's best anti-Catholic source, the so-called priest, Alberto Rivera, around whom Chick based several anti-Catholic comic books, and for whom he turned to for information about the Catholic Church:

"The document exhibited by Rivera to prove his status as a Catholic priest was fraudulently obtained and the Catholic Church denies his claims of having been a Jesuit priest or a bishop."

Some of it is true. For example, there is a Roman Catholic Church with a Pope at its head; Abraham Lincoln was president, rock'n'roll exists, etc., etc. But it's pretty safe to say that anything that isn't externally verifiable is the paranoid ramblings of a person trying to scare others into believing the same ravings as he does.

Many pen-and-paper roleplayers I know can recite all of his 'Dark Dungeons' tract and can speak at length about how far it deviates from reality.

Jack Chick's claims have been investigated by a number of groups, including CRI, an evangelical apologetic thinktank founded by the late Dr. Ralph Martin. His claims on Catholicism have been easily debunked as myth. The "priest" in the Alberto series was never validated as even being ordained. In short, Mr. Chick is just a very misguided writer of fiction. Poor fellow.

Chick goes overboard for me. And what's worse--does it with bad art. I just don't use or read them myself.

The message of tracts should be the gospel... period. Just like the Four Spiritual Laws were during the 70s and 80s.

Oh, please! Jack Chick is a total nutbar! In the first place he takes religion seriously when all it is is infantile wish-fulfillment, then he runs off the deep end with it, making up conspiracies at every turn.

To make matters worse, he calls anyone who disagrees with him in the slightest degree "evil." Atheists don't do that because we have more respect for other people than they ever could for us. We just know a lunatic when we see one.

Oh my gosh, those things are an absolute joke!

They are hilarious! My friends and I read them for fun.

Chick Publications has alot of their material on their website. Just glancing at the site, I see they do say quite alot about the Catholic church, none of which is positive. There are some tracts, comic books, and books.

I've read many of Jack Chick's little comic books, but I don't remember seeing anything like you've describe in this question.

Perhaps its because I have not seen many of Jack Chick's tracts for many years or perhaps, what you've been reading is someone's attempt to make Mr. Chick look like a nut case.

I can't really say for sure.

Jimmy Akin, a respected Catholic apologist, has written a very informative series on the Chick tracts (and Chick himself, who he actually met -- that particular story is on his blog).
