When I say non-religious people I mean non-Christians or Muslims predominantly and that includes those who believe in Jesus but do not class themselves as Christian.
I guess I am asking if there are any agnostics or atheists specifically (though I am interested in other groups too) who do not agree with the theory of evolution.
If you are one of these people why do you feel this way & what do you believe in or accept as a more valid theory?
Thanks.

Matt, I am asking just those groups as I am curious as to whether those who do not have an alternative to evolution such as 'God created us etc' accept the theory or not. I have some understanding of the Christian and Muslim beliefs and can see (though I disagree) why those people would choose not to accept the theory of evolution. I was really just wondering who else did not & what other theories / beliefs they might have.
I am very accepting of the theory of evolution, there is plenty of pretty convincing evidence for me. I grew up in a society where the majority do accept evolution (and also understand the difference between a scientific theory and a layman's theory - for want of a better way of putting that) & now I live in one where they do not. I am trying to understand some of this a little more.

I don't think you will find anyone who is not religious and who has not at least been exposed to antiscientific religious propaganda who does not accept the theory of evolution as an extremely well-tested scientific conclusion that fits the evidence remarkably well and has had its predictions confirmed over and over again. You will not find someone who is well educated about science, Christian, Muslim or Atheist, who is not persuaded that evolution provides the best available explanation of the available data from biology, genetics, paleontology, and other relevant fields and sources.

Why are you asking just those groups? What difference does it make who believes or doesn't?
What do you think about the theory of evolution?
(by the way, many Christians will give you different answers on this topic as well - perhaps you should consider opening up the target group.)

A big difference between science and religion, is that science can be proven wrong. I think evolution is the best explanation so far, but, I'm not loyal to it. Within evolution, there seems to be different alternatives, such as Punctuated Equilibrium and Complexity Theory.

I don't buy the Big Bang 100%.
I figure if someone were to rate the validity of a theory, the Big Bang would receive a 1, 1 meaning absolutely impossible to corroborate in any way, shape or form. I'm waiting for them to discover we are really just a little grain of sand within a little ball of lint in the pocket of an old coat long forgotten in a dark closet.

Yes, just as there are pro-choice christians (yes, they do exist)
Me, however, i feel that evolution is not just a theory but scientific fact, i studied science for 3 years...if you don't accept this "theory" then so be it

my brother in law is an agnostic and a very learned man. He does not believe the theory of evolution is valid, and leans toward a "young earth" theory.

I'm not afraid to admit that I see flaws in both theories. I do think that evolution is more valid but it can't explain everything.

I don't know what I believe. I think every theory has holes. Evolution is just the one that has been patched up over the years.

the key here, for me, would be the word "theory". In other words it is an interesting idea, but hasn't exactly provided proof. To me, the jury is still out on that one.
